Every series has had its good designs and its crappy designs. I wouldn't say Seed had the market cornered on bad designs. Some designs seem ugly initially but eventually grow on you like the Turn A and the Acguy. Other designs seem cool initially but don't age well like the F-91 (at least IMO). Some designs are ugly and stay ugly like a lot of the Z and ZZ designs. As of right now I am digging all of the designs from Gundam G No Reconguista
Not impressed by the mecha designs for this series. It has the classic Gundam color scheme, but after that, nope... I kinda get the same vibe as Turn A with this series. It has some things that are Gundam-esque, but mostly not so much. Looks more like a generic mecha anime to me with the Gundam name slapped on to its title.
I don't really mind the design. The only thing that irks me about it is how the eyes are shaped like a cat's eyes. Besides that I look forward to seeing it in action when the series starts.
Does this kind of design actually appeal to kids? coz when I was a kid I actually like designs like heavyarms custom ,wing zero custom and turn A which are cool and not really colorful or simple.
first thing I'd do if I got this would be to break off those freaking horns, or at least have them sweeping backwards. Then I'd putty off the Picasso panel lines on the thighs and scribe him some manly ones. The grunt unit OTOH, looks fantastic as is. Very scopedogish.
While I don't have much of a problem with the G-SELF I have to agree with you on the Grimoire. It really does look like a modernized VOTOMS design, very military-esque and purposeful-looking. I wonder if it'll have a Commander Type...
That Grimoire is a really refreshing design to me. I hope its a mass produced foot soldier, and variants are coming. Its been a long time since I liked a bad guy foot soldier in Gundam. Will definately buy this kit if they release it. It kind of reminds me of the bad guys in Vifam, yet something out of Ridley Scott film.
The Gundam on the otherhand... it seems rather... recycled. And unnecessarily busy too. I like the interchangable pack, but the rest of it just seems like someone thru different parts of different mobile suits together one afternoon and came up with this. It doesnt even look like it belongs in the same series as Grimoire.
I would really like to get a look at that Grimoire in the corner of the second picture. Are they doing a HG kit of that one too?
ReplyDeleteIt would be surprising if Bandai didn't give the Grimoire an HG release.
DeleteI'm gonna be crazy (positive way) 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteWowwww,
ReplyDeleteI have to order it
Eh. Doesnt look all that.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite impressed on its design, will probably wait til they announce MG version.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that an MG would even be able to fix this mess.
DeleteJust hoping that it will be fix somehow. I mean, like the HG AGE-1 Normal, I thinks it was terrible until they released an MG version.
Deletethis looks better than anything to come out of garbage seed at least
ReplyDeleteand it looks waaaay better than UC shit lol
DeleteYou think that its designs look better than Seed? You might need to get your eyes checked.

Deletelooks like an athlete... doesn't look like gundam at all... but that's just me...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you
DeleteArms and legs (exept that sort of side minibooster) really look like exia/double OO. Overall is good..just waiting for a MG!
ReplyDeleteSeriously stop bashing SEED....jesus its like you have nothing better to do.
ReplyDeletewhat makes seed so special?

Versus what? Every other Gundam series? What makes a Gundam series a Gundam series? IMO Tomino is the definitive decider on what is true Gundam.
DeleteLooks a heck of a lot like the original Build fighters Beginning Gundam.

Deletegive it time, it can always be upgraded or color and head changes for different pilots.
