It was just announced the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime TV series (43 episodes) will be released in Japan this summer in Blu-ray format.  The announcement mentioned that more info will be available soon.
Mobile Suit Gundam (機動戦士ガンダム Kidō Senshi Gandamu, also known as First Gundam, Gundam 0079 or simply Gundam '79?) is a televised anime series, produced by Sunrise. Created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, it premiered in Japan on Nagoya Broadcasting Network on April 7, 1979, and lasted until January 26, 1980, spanning 43 episodes. It was the very first Gundam series, which has subsequently been adapted into numerous sequels and spin-offs.

  1. I own this blu-ray set, and these books are my favourite of the numerous extras included. The scripts and storyboards are pretty cool, and so are the original pitch documents, but there's a lot of history and interviews included in the Albums that really make them a treasure to own for fans of the original series.
