And all the idiots will also assume that they know more about scale modelling than Kawaguchi and the editors-in-chief of Hobby Japan, Dengeki Hobby, and Model Graphix.
The modeller went way overboard and just kept throwing a bunch of random parts and weapons together until they couldn't fit anything more onto it, and then somehow found out a way to add an extra fuckload more onto that. While this process is how a lot of customs are made, the end result for this one doesn't look like anything but a metric fuckload of guns smashed together into a shapeless mass.
Just throwing a bunch of random stuff together until you get a huge shapeless plastic clusterfuck does not make someone an expert modeller, it makes a modeller who's best custom model is a huge shapeless plastic clusterfuck. Then again, I am one of those guys who prefers the "less is more" approach.
To the people defending the Rezel. The detail is great, no argument there. But try putting a sailormoon figure in there instead of the Rezel. You'd still sing him praises, right? Point is, this is a gunpla competition, not a detailing competition. Why, a casual fan would not even spot the mecha (which Gundam is) in there without you pointing it out. To a lot of people, the essence is lost. I'm pretty sure the organizers felt the need to reward the enormous effort by the modeller instead.
Hey, it's everyone's favorite ReZEL!
ReplyDeleteAnd all the idiots who don't know shit about gunpla modeling are on their way to bash Eday's Rezel for being a "clusterfuck"

ReplyDeleteI really like that Unicorn Gundam with blue psychoframe. And the diorama of the Detla Plus and the destroyed ReZEL.
