no you don't!, apparently Hollywood didn't learn after g savior
ReplyDeleteActually that was a Canadian production.
Deleteplease dont make it hollywood style
ReplyDeletei wish it's seed hollywood style = total crap
ReplyDeleteI think they will just re-release the first Gundam Movie-Triology on DVD and Blu-ray, because they are also a distribution-firm.
ReplyDeleteCould this be Gundam The Origin?
ReplyDeleteIt'll be an adaptation of the only Gundam with enough cultural relevance to western audiences: Gundam Wing.
ReplyDeleteSearch your feelings, you know it to be true.
Nooooo! It should adapt G-SAVIOUR then there will be absolutely no room for disappointment!
DeleteI can see it now. Gundam ruined forever. directed by Michael Gay ala transformers.
ReplyDeleteRuined just like Dragon Fall The US Movie, or Teenage Mutant ALIEN Turtles, or Dead Or Alive THE US ADAPTATION, or King Of Fighters THE US ADAPTATION or Street Failer The Legend of Chun Li US ADAPTATION.
Ruin ALL the japanese masterpieces!
Simply be thankful it's not made by Fox. 99.9% of crappy adaptations come from that studio.
DeleteThe odds if total failure and insult is so high it's almost impossible to even imagine how they could pull this off without screwing it up.
ReplyDeleteRemake G Saviour. Then the quality can only go up!
DeleteThis is such an interesting problem. On the one hand you have the possibility that it will be Wing related since its most likely going to be for the west but let's be honest, the background story is far to corny to try to legitimize. The only way this thing can have a shot at being more than an insult to fans and a toy advert for kids is to go with the UC timeline since it is rooted in solid classical science fiction. Amuro's story has just as much legit potential as Ender from Ender's Game.
ReplyDeleteNeill Blomkamp for director! Give that guy the reins so we can get some PRACTICAL and realistic robot action. The last thing I want is a CGI snorefest like Transformers. Plus it'll probably cost the studio less than a zillion dollars.
ReplyDeletewhat if james camerion got in on this?
ReplyDeleteAfter Avatar? No. If it was James Cameron of the 90s I would say yes but but these days he's gotten high on CG rather than a good story.
DeleteI'm pretty sure that is it the original movie trilogy come to the US market.
ReplyDeleteIf it was something different we will have learned directly from Sunrise, NOT from the "local" unit of Sony...
Re-releases of Gundam Movies in Bul-ray or what?
ReplyDeleteI doubt its going to be a live action movie. Why now all of the sudden.
It might just die in development hell like Evangelion.
Gundam is a universal franchise name, it can be about anyone, anywhere, any time, with the robot by the name and have it fight whoever else from wherever else wearing a mask. just remember these simple rules: kill the women (who love the pilots), spare the battleship captains (who slap the main character at least once), and use at least three reels of stock footage for launch sequences.
ReplyDeleteLol You forgot the main character needs to be either excessively whiny or an emotionless psychopath. They also cannot under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE be over the age of 18. XD
DeleteThe Origin will be movies just like Berserk and Yamato 2199. Simultaneous worldwide release. FUCK YEAH.
ReplyDeleteYamato 2199 don´t have a simultaneous worldwide release, also the Berserk-Movies^^
DeleteEveryone relax! From what I see, Sony Pictures Entertainment(SPE) plans to DISTRIBUTE Gundam related properties to the North America possibly through Animax or their own Gundam-themed channel. This could good. Currently there is too little information, so everything and anything is up for speculation. However, I'm confident that SPE will only distribute Gundam related properties as you don't f**k with an icon as big as Gundam when Sony has done it before in the past.
ReplyDeleteif thats true than i have no problem with this...
DeleteI hope this is only for distribution purposes. If sony distributes the blu-ray gundam series hopefully we won't pay $200 - $300 for one box set. Please sony help Bandai with this, and don't try to remake any Gundam stuff. This franchise is having enough problems.
ReplyDeleteOk, now one of you geniuses would explain WHY if Sony is just "planning to DISTRIBUTE Gundam related properties" those domains are named gundam-MOVIE.com!!!
