Now are they make Asemu forcefully an X-Rounder? I mean I knew it´s possible since Flits powers were activated by another person, too. But with an helmet? Till now I think Asemu has stood his ground against X-Rounders pretty good.
Grodek killed? I think Flit will go crazy with all his hatred.
I'm predicting Asem is using his helmet out of free will considering the frustration and anger he showed this episode. I think he wants to prove he can do better, since he saw even his father couldn't hold up to Zehart.
Asem scared me this episode. All that stuff Flit said to four year old Asem has really given 18 year old Asem some serious issues.
Although its harsh I found Grudeck's death as it should be; Grudeck killed the person who took his family, that person's son killed him, the cycle wouldn't stop.
Romary pulled a Nina Purpleton on Asem... But it makes me wonder why (spoiler)Grodek deleted the thing on the pda? Flint said it could change the tide of the war...(spoiler)Besides that Age 2 looked awesome flying towards the screen with the explosions in the background ^^
that moment nearly ruined nina as a character for me. With Romary I'm liking that she at least matters, but I really hope they redeem her before the end and don't give us another unexplained, apparently loveless marriage like with flit and emily.
And Grodek erased it on the fairly good chance flit wouldn't be the first to see his phone. The fact that flit did HAPPEN to be the first person who saw his phone was just pure anime coincidence. Grodek did exactly the right thing in reality.
And yeah, I'm a big fan of the double bullet now. They've done a great job of ramping up the gundams in this show without going strike freedom on us. Each one is just a bit cooler than the one before.
I don't know, I kind of doubt it. They're really mining the troubled father/son relationship for drama; it seems unlikely they'd just kill him. That said, I'd be fine with it. I like Asemu WAY better than flit.
In fact, that one of the things that ruins a good series, it be if they randomly gunned down Setsuna in season 1, they gunned down Lockon, but they brought his twin to fill it in....but that certainly wont work here....
I don't wish for Flit to die...but I think his death would be enormous for Asemu's character development. We know that the series has no problem with killing a character from revenge, and we also know that the AGE-1 will not be as good as Desil's new and modified suit.
I don't think that Asemu can become his own character with his mentor still in the picture, citing Star Wars Eps 1 & 4 (Qui Gonn and Obi Wan, respectively) and even LOTR. It's a huge theme in fiction.
Also, I think I'd classify Asemu as an angsty gundam protagonist... along the lines of Shinn and Kamille. Both of those characters are made who they are by losing someone close to them. Gundam isn't really creative with it's character archetypes.
That being said, I think Flit is awesome and I will be very sad if that's how they choose to proceed.
All I'm saying is that I can't see Asemu becoming a complete character while Flit is around.
you're certainly right about mentor deaths being a major theme in fiction. But honestly, unlike a lot of stories I don't think Asemu's growth requires his father's death, in fact I think it would be a poor choice.
I think what Asemu needs is to say to his living, breathing father that he is his own man and he will not have his life defined by his father's hatred and need for revenge. If they just have flit die, or live for that matter, and have Asemu become flit I think it will be a failure of character development.
When you're telling a story about a century of war, it stops being so much about how do you win the war, and more about how you end the cycle of violence.
Don't forget that Decil will have to die since he killed Yurin as a part of Flit's revenge. Gundam Age 2 Bullet Mode reminds me of half Gundam Double X and half 00 raiser. Depressing to see Grodek go away but at least Arabel died but still Grodek is a badass character and I wish he could still be around much or little longer. Things are starting to heat up since this episode is like a cliffhanger.
I'm really liking the double bullet, it's cool and powerful but not nearly as god-mode as some of the more recent heroic gundams.
As sad as I was to see Grodek die, because he's a badass, I did think it was a powerful image of what is clearly the underlying theme of this series, which is endless cycles of violence. Being killed in revenge by the son of the man he killed in revenge for the death of his family who that man killed in revenge for the deaths of his people.
Obviously the plot of this show is how do you end the violence when everyone has been so evil to each other that now everyone has a perfectly good reason to want to kill each other, and I thought the Grodek scene illustrated that well.
To be honest, its no surpise that Grodek will die, but I think he died off a couple episodes early. I mean, his the captain of the first generation, and just last episode he gets released from prison, and is about contribute something that is plot twisting to Flit. Having him die off this early really didn't feel right... R.I.P Captain Grodek
I'm not even watching this yet, but I can agree. Flit is probably going to die, and not of old age (no pun intended.) I'm expecting some heroic death where he saves his son's life in battle and gets a beam saber through the cockpit for his troubles. Think Qui Gon Jinn's death combined with Nicol Amalfi (you know, beam saber graphically vaporizing lower half of body,) so that you KNOW Flit is dead and get "emotional." I'm not wishing for it. I like the idea that he's still a total badass in the AGE-1, even as a fully grown adult. Unfortunately, it's kind of mandatory for this sort of storyline. It's the only way to permanently pass the torch and force Asemu to completely grow up.
I totally agree with this but the opening kinda foreshadows that maybe Wolfe may die. I see the whole star wars thing goin there with flit but I don't think they will kill him off
Now... I could see this going another way, but it's a bit different from the usual M.O...
They kill Asemu.
Now hear me out, mind you, this is mostly how I'd write things for a bit of originality, but here goes: If they haven't done so yet, introduce Asemu's love interest. Have things progress the way they normally do with people their age; they bump uglies early on. It wouldn't be a new concept for Gundam; hell, Flay and Kira were going at it soon enough. Instead of Flit dying, it is Asemu who is intervening to both save him, and save the day until his kid comes of age, (his love interest will be pregnant, unbeknownst to anyone; think Goku and Goten!) Flit changes of course, what parent doesn't after burying their child? He takes on a sterner, brooding attitude, and raises/mentors his grandson until it's time for him to pilot the AGE-3. Flit will be a survivor, intent only on seeing the end of the war, on making the enemy pay. Now, look at the AGE-3's design. It's a bit of a departure from the previous 2 suits. Asemu does have an interest in MS design, but he's no Flit. I could see Flit designing the AGE-3 the way it is as a means of protecting his grandson. It's heavily armed and armored and basically comes with a standard escape pod. Keep in mind, this is from some one who is only browsing the wiki and sites like this for info. I know I'm probably coming from way out of left field here.

I can see your point, but until we see any more previews for AGE 3 than we already have, then we really cant say much (who EVER knew Yurin was going to...DAMN YOU DECIL!)
Personally, i really hate it when Gundam/anime writers kill off integral characters that become your favourite really quickly (THERE IS NO GOD IN THIS WORLD!) then they keep the ridiculous not contributing to plot ones.
DB meets V2's 'Wings of Light' overpoweredness, yay! ive been waiting a loooong time for destructive Wings of light (no, Destiny, Strike Freedom, Inf Justice, 00 Raiser? Beginning 30 Gundam - well in a way it does, etc doesnt count, let me know if there are any other gundam capable of this besides V2 and DB)
that crazy guy who tackled grodek is the kid whos dad got killed by grodek maybe not so sure
ReplyDeleteIm also guessing asem thinks he can become a x rounder by wearing that helmet
Delete^- That is that him. Yark Dole's son.
ReplyDeletelolololololol.... released out of prison in a way he gonna do something amazing then gets himself killed lol
ReplyDeleteage-2 double bullet has a Minovsky Drive System :)
ReplyDeleteRomary looks hot, I would totally do her any day.
ReplyDeleteAfter 30 years finally someone got the idea to take Veigans' MS head....
ReplyDeleteI had the exact same thought...

ReplyDelete^^thats not true. flitt was definitely superior to zeheart; zeheart had a hard time hitting flitt. age-1f limited flitt's full x-rounder ability
ReplyDeleteAsem scared me this episode. All that stuff Flit said to four year old Asem has really given 18 year old Asem some serious issues.

ReplyDeleteIn fact, that one of the things that ruins a good series, it be if they randomly gunned down Setsuna in season 1, they gunned down Lockon, but they brought his twin to fill it in....but that certainly wont work here....
ReplyDeleteI bet Flit's right hand man will be the spy!
ReplyDeletei wish people would freaking stop wish for Flit to die
ReplyDeletegetting really annoying now
