Gundam Unicorn News Update

An update from a translated portion of an article from ANN & animenanime.jp

“The animeanime.jp news website reports on Monday (Apr 27 '09) that the Japanese studio Sunrise is planning to release its Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn anime around the world simultaneously. Sunrise had already announced last week that its adaptation of Harutoshi Fukui’s light novels was green-lit for release in the winter of 2009. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun paper had reported earlier this month that Sunrise’s parent company Bandai NAMCO Holdings is planning to distribute its Gundam franchise in 10 languages — Japanese, English, German, French, and others — within this year.

Sunrise has yet to announce the release format of the new Gundam Unicorn anime project.”

Is nice to know that Japanese Studios are trying to reach out to a worldwide market with the simulcast of Gundam Unicorn (or better known as Mobile Suit Gundam UC). There are plenty of speculations as to the format which this project will be made.....be it a movie / TV series / OVA.

Personally, I would like Gundam Unicorn to be a TV series. Since it can flesh out all the intricate details from the novels. But with the offical announcement of this multicast project being made not too long ago, and a not too distant release this Winter... it is getting doubtful that this would be a TV series. So between a movie / OVA, I pray that it would be an OVA release... because a movie is just too darn short.

Cross your fingers, and let's hope is either a TV series or an OVA.
