Visited The 1:1 RX-78-2 Gundam @ Shizouka Today (Aug. 21st 2010)

Took the Shinkansen from the Tokyo Station to Shizouka Station.  That day I was accompanied by Gaijin Gunpla (better know as Syd from HobbyLink Japan TV) whom had shown me a lot of neat places at Akihabara before we set out on our journey to Shizouka.
Excitement began to rise as I was able to get my first glimpse of the 1/1 Gundam near the exit of the Shizouka Station exit.  At Shizouka, we hooked up with both Busterbeam & ASM (or now known as American Salaryman in Osaka).  As we walked, we shared about gunpla & everyday lifes....but we never took out eyes off the 1/1 Gundam statue, and our cameras were snapping away....
It was quite a hot day at Shizouka.  But it was a refreshing to be out of the city with more green scenery all around us.
Got myself two hefty bags of limited edition goods at the gunpla booth.  We had to stand in line to get in, but thats okay as I got to talk more with my fellow gunplars.
I wasn't all that much interested in the small Gundam Cafe there, but ASM was....as he ran off to get himself a much needed snack.
We were pretty much speechless in awe when we went up close to the 1/1 Gundam statue.  I was afraid that my camera would overheat due to it constantly snapping away.  I must have taken hundreds of picture that day.  Definitely, no picture can replace the feeling of being there up close with the 1/1 Gundam.

As we were getting ready to leave, we lost sight of Busterbeam..... Is understandable for kids to get lost in all the excitement.

We passed by the Shizouka Hobby Fair tent, and noticed that the MG 1/100 Musha Gundam Mk-II Tokugawa Ieyasu Vers. & BB Limited Edition Gundam Tokugawa Ieyasu Ver. were for sale inside.  ASM, being the great guys that he is, ran in to get us some goods. =D

We left the 1/1 Gundam in the sunset.  We all went away together with a heavy heart... wanting to stay just a bit longer....  As I walked away, I actually walked backwards looking at this gaint behemoth w/ my camera still snapping away. LOL

The story continues with us heading to a local restaurant for a all-you-can-drink dinner meal.  And it went all crazy from that point on!  Afterwards we said our goodbyes at the Shizouka Station, and Gaijin Gunpla & I went back to Tokyo.  A day well spent.  (I hooked up with Gaijin Gunpla again on another day, and he was gracious enough to show me around Hobby Link Japan...but thats for another post.)
