True, but you're implying that simply rubbing parts in the dirt (or something else) automatically produces a result that makes the model look like a giant machine with rusted parts and a fading paint job. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a couple more steps involved before/after rubbing parts with dirt (or a mix of paints or whatever) to produce a result similar to the customized Turn X seen above (and that only rubbing some parts in stuff would make the model a horrible mess rather than something like the above).
And yes, it's not the most impressive custom Gunpla job ever; I can understand feeling underwhelmed if it's not more and if it's an MS you dislike. But that doesn't therefore mean the custom job seen above is bad. I think it's pretty good, but to each their own. *shrug*
