  1. Based on that exploded arm, this looks like the old 1/100 NG's and HG's which i'm not complaining about, always hoped for more 1/100 kits

  2. Hmmmmmm........ Welp I better learn how to paint my kits before I buy this!

  3. I...really don't feel good about this. It's like just a cut above HG quality.

    1. Precisely the point. This new line is essentially a revitalization of the old NG 1/100 line that was discontinued a few years back. It's basically a way for Bandai to make fan-desired suits (like the Nightingale and the GP04 Gundam Gerbera) without having to invest enormous resources into developing an equal size MG.

    2. this line is B-club resin kits turn into plastic, not renew of the old non graded kits.

  8. it looks like a less complicated version of master grade i think?

  9. Looks great, but how is this any different than a normal MG kit?

    1. It looks like a NG with blue LEGO studs functioning as the new polycaps. The price is up there in the larger scale MG range but less than what a true MG of this kit would cost. Honestly... I am not impressed. The thing I like about MG kits is that with the internal frame you feel like you are building the actual robot in a way. With NG/HG you are building a toy. They are still fun but it is not the same experience. With how simplistic the actual construction of this kit seems my wallet is quite safe.

  10. I see so its kinda like a big HG but from what I can see, more color separation and less reliant on stickers. Ok I will see how it actually turns out. Maybe I will get that Nightingale. That GP04 though is a must buy for me though lol.

    1. Remember how different the HGUC Rozen Zulu display kit looked from the actual product? They ALWAYS paint the display models so don't let the lack of stickers on a display model fool you. It is entirely possible they aren't as reliant on stickers but I'll believe it when I see the actual kit.

  11. I see... Another big slab of plastic, just like the HG Neo Zeong

    1. Yeah, IMO it's very disappointing. I was hoping for more than just a blown up NG/HG kit. But if they use the new HG joints than that just means more fun for HG kit bashing, guess that's something to look forward to.

  12. i hope those blown-up shots of the leg is not all there is too it in articulation. Otherwise, i dont see why this is not like a regular MG by standard. Nice to see a big hulking kit again this year though

    1. I don't know, I figured it would be a brick either way. It's just about as big as a Mobile Armor isn't it? Figured it would have the same movement as The O, full range of motion in the upper body, but next to nothing below the waist.

      Delete
    2. @Anon 3:08
Because The O is brick MS from the beginning, it's not bandai fault if the MG cannot move so freely. The O is more like walking mountain than more humanoid MS like Sazabi, albeit they almost have same size.

      Delete
    3. Seabook, you're right. I wasn't blaming Bandai for the bad articulation, I meant that big kits usually lack a lot it since they're so big, transformable kits not counting. The Nightingale is, by comparison, as big as both The O and the Sazabi but, both the Nightingale and The O could be seen as tank type suits big and heavily armored, and I feel that gets translated well into both their respective kits. So, this being the case, this can't be expected to pose anywhere close to a smaller kit.

    1. I wouldn't say it looks all that great. The MG Sazabi ver Ka smokes it.

  14. doesnt look too complicated. I was expecting something near MG complexity / something near VerKa Sazabi, but basing it on the decomposed parts as per 2nd picture, it looked like something in between MG and 1/100 NG

  15. Wait... DOES THAT POSTER IN THE LAST IMAGE BELOW THE NIGHTINGALE SAY THAT WE WILL SEE AN ANIMATED RELEASE OF BELTORCHIKA'S CHILDREN?!?!?!?!

    1. Nevermind, it's a manga as seen in the more recent pictures, but it would be awesome to see it animated.

  16. Hmm... I think I'd rather just have Nightingale in 1/144 HG instead of this if they aren't going to make it a proper MG. I don't really have room for this sadly, I think I'll have to pass. :-( Well I hope we can still get a 1/144 scale version someday.

  17. Im just happy that there's more projects coming :D

For now we only have the Robot Damashii and the ver.KA.

  19. Definately B-Club's Nightingale's mold with Bandai's new innerframes and joints. This makes you wonder, will Bandai incorporate more B-Club's kits into their RE grade in the future. That's certainly an ecouraging aspect. Kits that likely won't get MG will be cheaper with RE while they may cut PG in the near future with how good RG and the new MG ver. 3.0 - Revised versions are. For all we know, 1/100 RG may not be out of the question either and if that happens, PG may got cut for real.

    ReplyDelete
  20. sophisticated detail? this? come on bandai this is basically ng/hg 1/100. if you want to release less detailed kits just make them hg 1/144, i don't see why you shouldn't do that. this basically kills the chance of us getting proper nightingale mg in the near future.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hey genius, and all the other geniuses who have to take the "ruins the chance of us getting a proper Nightingale MG" stance just for the sake of fulfilling the internet prerogative of finding something to bitch about NO MATTER WHAT IT IS; you are NOT getting a Nightingale MG, you were NEVER going to get a Nightingale MG, and if you did, you'd whine like a cunt about the price, the decals, or something/ANYTHING else you could contrive to. So shut up, this is what you get. And it's no bad thing.

  25. Although I'm happy this is coming out and in 1/100 scale, it doesn't really deliver on the expectations that bandai has promised for these new version. If you're looking for a MG with the part build of a HG then this is you're thing but considering how awesome this is I kind of wanted more including inner frames, new gimmicks and MORE detail. We'll just have to wait and see what happens

  27. Poor Nightingale...

See, this is why I was upset about the announcement of a 1/100 Nightingale. The Nightingale deserves better than this. This is terrible quality, big empty chunks of plastic, no innerframe, super cheap looking. The Sazabi from almost 15 years ago looked better than this. Worse yet, this pretty much pounds our chances of getting a MG Nightingale into the dust. I understand why they did this, but I really wish they didn't. This is one ugly bastard of a kit for such a beautiful MS.

    1. Agreed, this was a lazy answer for our call for a MG scale Nightingale. No details, mechanics, gimmicks, color separations, just nothing... but a hollow plastic brick. I can understand the Neo Zeong being similar like this since it's a HG behemoth, but there is no reason making the Nightingale into a piñata. And this cheap imitation ruins any hope for something better anytime soon. Yet the Hi-Nu is getting a Ver. Ka... seems so unfair. Heck I would of prefer a HG or something... anything else than this. *sigh*

    2. Or your standard are just too high.

    3. You do realize an MG Nightengale if they ever made one would have more parts than a PG kit and cost around $250-$300 right?

      Delete
    4. Even upon that realization, people would still buy it because its the treatment that a model such as the Nightingale deserves.

      Delete
    5. @Hermonic

With the price tag of $300? Yes there will be people who will buy it. The question is: how many? There's a reason why designs like the Kshatriya and the Nightingale weren't given the MG treatment. It's because the cost of production far outweighs the projected profit. Ever wondered how much $300 or even just $200 is in Japan? That's a big chunk of money, and I doubt that many fans there will buy it. It's not about what kind of treatment a design "deserves". Bandai isn't stupid enough to do something that will put them out of business.

      Delete
    6. The Sazabi is 90 bucks. Compare the Sazabi to the Nightingale in terms of mass. There is no fucking way a MG Nightingale would be $300. Like, I know you're just pulling that number out of your ass obviously, but it's nowhere even CLOSE. If the Sazabi is $90, then a mg Nightingale would be at most $150. At absolute most. Cheaper than PG, cheaper than the large HGUC, and cheaper than some MG.

      Delete
    7. Nightingale itself is love-or-hate design, even among old fans. Some love them but some hate it too because it brickness. I think that's why bandai won't take risk for release Nightingale as MG and choose RE 1/100 instead. For myself i like Nightingale too, but I will wait for more information about this new project itself, what it can offer to us. At last, buy it if you like, leave it and use your money for other kit or things if you don't like it.

    8. Don't forget the engineering, plastic is easy, the molds and the planning for something this big?

But hay, blame neo zeong, that thing if it hadn't been made, could of had more R/D time and cost planning invested into nightengale

  28. They're making a manga version of Beltorchika's Children? I would buy that in a heartbeat.

    1. You're an idiot. The RC kit has shit part fitting and quality. The Bandai one will be cheaper thanks to many store discounts (20%+)

  30. It looks like the old B-Club 1/100 resin kit in plastic form....

    ReplyDelete
  31. Odd. By the looks of it, this is more like a 1/100 High Grade with a bit more detail than a legit hi-quality new category of kits.

I don't know, the hype is not as strong as it was when I first read the announcement.

    ReplyDelete
  32. To be fair, the amount of details is disapointing. To also be extra fair, it's 85$; if they came out with a MG Nightingale, it would cost 200$+, people would be complaining about the price and it becomes priced out of most modelers' budget.

So Bandai is stuck in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Either release a cheaper more accessible alternative and have people complain about how undetailed it is or an overpriced kit of higher quality that fewer people will buy. In the end, they chose what they thought was the more financially responsible decision.

    ReplyDelete
  33. seems like they are incorporating ratchet joint for the construction? see the blue thingy, it had grooves.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If the Nightingale really is just a plastic version of the B-Club resin kit, as many are saying, than it all makes sense. The RE is for REsin. This "category" allows them to kill many birds with one stone. They get to re-release older resin kits as plastic kits at a much better price. They are also cheaper than a MG version of said kit. They don't require much, if any, design work if said design work was already done for a resin kit. Since a lot of the B-Club resin kits are NOT of the mainstream MS they get to release "fresher" designs instead of cranking out newer versions of the same old MS. It makes a lot of sense.

If I am correct I am not at all worried about my wallet taking a hit. I am honestly not interested in any of these designs. I prefer the Sazabi to the Nightingale and I could care less about the Mk III or the GP-04. While I do like HG kits I much prefer kits with internal structures,

I was never expecting Bandai to release a MG Nightingale so this isn't taking away something we were ever going to get. If they are recycling B-Club kits they can leave the MG development team alone to create more MG kits. It's a win win.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Are you guys kidding? This thing looks fantastic!

You can confuse yourselves as much as you want, but those yellow parts in the thrusters, the little yellow thrusters and the white parts that surround them looks like they will be proved in plastic.

The proportions look good and the other design does Nightingale justice.

Stop crying and complaining like spoiled babies. This is a great start to a great line. Looking much better than the old NG 1/100th.

    ReplyDelete
  36. With the hinu ka we may still get the nightingale in mg one day, but as a version ka. Although due to the design you will not get much movement from it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Finally!!!

I hope they make the devil gundam next...

  38. I am baffled sometimes by modelers.
    "A new line? Interesting!"
    *we see the kit*
"It's not like a Master Grade! It's almost like they literally told us it's a different line!"

The Nightingale is a brick by design. Honestly, if they made this and a MG, I'd be buying this. I'm betting it'll be much sturdier. MGs can be wonderful, of course, but that articulation can come at a price, or need people remember the embarrassment that is the Delta Plus? It's not hard to imagine this thing collapsing under its own weight if it was a MG, in addition to it costing far, far more.

    1. You misunderstood just about every single point people have made. That deserves some sort of award.

Like you literally got nothing right. Amazing.

    2. Educate me, then. It's very easy to just say I'm wrong, but you didn't refute anything I even said. You just went straight for the "No, u!" of internet arguments, and made no real point.

The complaints have been that it isn't as detailed as a Master Grade, for instance, while completely discounting the price difference compared to a Master Grade, and that it ISN'T a Master Grade. This is a problem the site has in general, where people often bitch and moan about a HGUC not being a Real Grade or Master Grade, while overlooking that the price point is different and that it is a different line.

What didn't I get? You don't even have to refute all of it, but please, try to at least pick one point. You haven't really said anything of substance.

      Delete
    3. Sorry, I wouldn't have come off so hostile if you weren't being insulting to the community.

      It's a collection of things.

The first disappointment was the announcement of a brand new "highly detailed and sophisticated 1/100 series". That part turned out to be simply untrue, just your usual business talk to hype it up. When people found out it's just more nongrade 1/100s like we had ages ago, you should be able to understand the disappointment.

So, are nongrade 1/100s a bad thing? No, not necessarily. Here the price issue comes into play. We can get 1/100 kits for cheaper, which are essentially upscaled High Grades.

Here are the main arguments I see in the comments:

"But you guys would just bitch about the price if it were a MG"
This point really holds no water. A MG costs like a MG. If you don't want to pay the price, then don't pay it. The problem with this kit being a nongrade is its size. The Nightingale has large chunks of plastic all over it, especially the shoulder binders. As an upscaled High Grade, these large surfaces are left completely undetailed and the kit is overall very bland. I mean, just look at the connector for the shield. It's a gray brick. I mean, I could go on about the problems with every part of the kit, but you have to at least acknowledge it is neither detailed nor sophisticated, it's just simply cheap looking.

"If it were a MG it would cost like $300"
This is simply not true. The MG Sazabi costs roughly $92. If you compare the overall mass of the Sazabi with Nightingale, the difference is about as much as Nu Gundam vs. Nu Gundam HWS. A proper MG Nightingale would not be more than $150, I'd say more likely $140-ish.

"There was never a chance of a MG Nightingale to begin with"
Do you honestly think a MG Nightingale would be more out of the question than HGUC Neo Zeon? The Nightingale is big, but not THAT big. It is also a very popular suit, people have been dying for a MG Nightingale. There was definitely a chance, and the shitty part is that the announcement of this kit pretty much seals the deal of any hope for a MG.

      "Everybody just bitches about everything"
Yes. This goes for everyone, you included. This has nothing to do with the Gunpla community but more with humanity as a whole. The people who bitch will just not buy the product, and the rest of the world will move on.

      Delete
    4. Using the existence of the HGUC Neo-Zeong to indicate the possibility of a MG Nightingale is not a strong argument.

The Neo Zeong was actually animated in a popular, and current, series at the time of its release. It is the ONLY Mobile Suit in a Mobile Armor that wasn't a Gundam. It is also somewhat of a traditional conservative fan-friendly design. It's the bastard love child of a three way between the Denobrium, the Zeong, and the Alpha Azieru. Also as big as it is it there appears to be a fair amount of pose-ability. As expensive as it is, the design seems to be popular enough to be as least risky as is possible for such a large HG kit.

The Nightingale, on the other hand, was never animated. It isn't a conservative fan-friendly design. It is more of an extreme, tricked out to the max, take on the Sazabi. The Nightingale has been around for a long time but it never had the popularity to generate a non resin kit of any scale. At the very lease they would've attempted a HGUC release. Instead they port over a resin kit to plastic. No new design work needed. As minimal risk as possible for this design.

  39. God people on here moan so much. It's not a master grade. No one said it was a master grade! If it was it would be like twice the cost of the The 0. Seriously you people are so stupid. A new line and all everyone does is complain. Oh it's not a master grade. Wah fucking wah. We already have master grades so shut up!

    1. I think a lot of the bitching is because Bandai seems to have slowed down MG releases significantly. The bitching is just a knee jerk reaction from a fear that MG kits are being phased out.

I think that fear is completely baseless in regards to this new line. They aren't dumbing down Master Grades. If they were they would probably have a G in the acronym somewhere. These are just existing resin kits being ported over to plastic releases. None of these are anywhere in the vicinity of main stream mobile suits. If they were actually looking to dumb down MG kits they would've stuck with dumbed down versions of extremely popular suits.

I firmly believe the RE acronym is indirectly referring to REsin kits. Reborns was just an easy way to make an acronym with those letters.

      Delete
    2. I personally attribute the slowdown of MG releases as due to their economy. The new tax has prices soaring and it would be impractical for them to continue with a monthly release if their consumers couldn't keep up. You may say that it doesn't affect us, but because Bandai's main consumer is the Japanese market, it certainly affects them.

I also don't believe that they are "dumbing down" the MG because, well, this isn't the MG. We've had 1/100 kits that are not MG before, and it has never affected the Master Grade line in any way.

      Delete
  40. Not that impressed. Looks like they're trying to dumb down MGs

  41. The fact that no one seems to like this is an obvious sign that there's no people here that actually do any modelling.

Finally a kit line that does away with stupid gimmicks, overdetailed armor and inner parts which will never be seen yet I'm still paying for.

Adding detail is not a problem, and the lack of inner parts just makes it more sturdy and easier to work on and paint.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Which is quite a lot of the Gunpla community. Most modern kits are just the anime equivalent to LEGOs. They are molded in color snap together kits that will look good without additional work. Modelers often tend to gravitate towards resin kits. If Bandai was trying to tap the modeler market they would be putting more focus on resin kits. Instead they are focusing on lowest common denominator Model/toy hybrids.

  42. Dont you why people hate this, this is fantastic. Its MG with simple inner frame.Outer frame its really good, really good color separation there. As modeller this is really dream kit, bye bye overpriced resin kit

  43. Bigger High Grades aren't necessary, more MGs are.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes except we aren't gonna get MGs of these for ages if ever...

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is basically the only version of the Nightingale we're getting so I don't see why people are complaining. Looking at its design I don't see why it should have some crazy articulation like MGs, its basically a brick. Personally I no longer have a lot of time to build kits and the simplicity of the build appeals to me. As long as all the colors are in that should be enough. What I do want to see this thing do is deploy its funnels. Its basically the only gimmick this thing has to offer aside from the sub-arms under its front skirt. Lets wait and see what else it has to offer before shooting down the design and line concept.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm not bothered by the lack of gimmicks and a good inner frame. I expect that from the MG line-up. However, for a RE-HG that is reportedly high detail, I find this release disappointing. Given the alternatives of an expensive resin kit, I don't mind snapping this up. But the inside of the binder and shield as well as the legs should have been better detailed. They are simple, blank and blocky surfaces. While I was initially excited, I think that I will hold off until I see this for a good price. I'm not convinced that this MS is worth its price tag. There are better MGs to be had with far better details.

Missed opportunity I think; I would have liked to see a modern, well-detailed kit with a very bare-bones frame design that focuses on final product finish rather than how well it can kneel.
