they spent too much time on Mao's backstory imo...whenever they're going to have battles like this I feel like the entire episode should be devoted to the fight instead of the last 10 minutes....give Mao a complete episode to himself and a complete episode to the fight
Yeah i felt like it lacked the emotion and intensity of the last episode, but it was nice knowing how Mao was able to fire the hyper satellite cannon without the moon!
definitely will be OP.. sunrise designed a MS for the Renato bros specially for the final 16 match and they will definitely make the most out of it.. that simply means more epic battles between Meijin and Renato bros with Meijin barely scraping through
and yeah, i'm a bit disappointed at the X Maoh vs SBS as well, but i suppose there's not much you can do when you pit a long range MS against a variable one, though one thing bothered me the whole episode.. why didn't Mao use his 2nd beam saber?!
Too bad we won't get to see much action on the east side. Of course, they could make Meijin's 3rd round opponent a surprise powerhouse but I doubt that.
Oh well, I hope we'll see Fellini put up a fight against Aila with the latter winning and getting to fight against Sei/Reiji
It's like there was a sudden cut back, in the current episode budget. Though animation was good, sound was great. Fight was incomplete and felt rushed. Strike build was way overpowered.
This is why it's kind of a shame that the Build Strike is the main character. We know that Sei/Reiji will obviously win all their tournament (prove me wrong, Build Fighters!), and chances are their final battle will be against Meijin, or perhaps the Dark Matter.
I guess it'll be okay if they loose at the ones that doesn't change the result much(like the race), they might get their ass kicked by the Dark Matter then Meijin will revenge them, or maybe Aila that'll be a great love story.
All aboard the K9 hype train! They actually have Brave Battle Warriors models (or at least Quebeley) appearing and still no Age. Thought that was worth noting.
There was a little custom Gunpla competition where the winners can make appearance in the show(displayed on master Chinan's shelf), you can see the shoulders of Age-3 Fortress and Shaldoll Custom in there, and a customized Brave which is the only Gunpla from 00 Movie to be seen, not to mention 00 2nd season, but it's something I guess. Also although we often see Unicorn Gunpla, they're never shown in action, the best we got was Cziommer's Loto.
Well next battle should be interesting if they do it right. Gm Sniper 2 vs the Kämpfer, and there is a possibility of it being sniper vs sniper, which definitely be fun to watch them using different tactics against each other. Besides the GM Sniper 2 does need some revenge or at lead redeem itself after it's original encounter with the Kämpfer.
I tried to compile every cameo appearance and references in this episode. Let me know if I missed anything. http://oyama7.blogspot.ca/2014/02/recaap-gundam-build-fighters-episode-17.html
The bracket took out any hint of surprise. Yuki will dominate his side of the bracket. Aila will beat Fellini to face Reiji and Sei in the semi-final. Nils will lose the next round. Sei and Yuki in the final round.
At 10.31/the 29th picture, a white cusotmised MS furthest on the left (the shoulder and part of its backpack), is it using parts from Susanowo (part of its GN claw with spikes)? If so, then they manage to include a 00 Season 2 design or at least part of it into this show :)
I found this episode okay, a bit of a let down, but okay. It is a Gundam show of course, and a product of people's hard work. I liked how Mao's background and training sequence with Chinan was shown. I also found Mao and Chinan's talk about fictional girls quite amusing. Also, Mrs. Iori is back taking care of Sei and Reiji. I do wish that the episode was longer; there was so much more that could have been done. 1) I think most people would agree that the fight needed to be longer. I really would have wanted a better drawn out duel like the one with the Zaku Amazing or Fenice. Although, having the Star Build Strike and X Maoh fight tooth and nail might have ruined the atmosphere of "enjoying the fight." If the storyboard writers were trying to preserve the enjoyment aspect of the fight without making Sei & Reiji's plot-armor too obvious, they could have used material from the 00Raiser vs Sunanoo fight. It was a hit and run fight with plenty of flashing lights like most of what happened in Star Build Strike vs X Maoh. The 00Raiser and Susanoo also didn't damage each other much apart from the ending when the Susanoo's arms were cut off. Also, the Absorb Shield was destroyed, how could the RG system have been charged-up that much? Having the Star Build Strike do a butterfly catch, use up the RG system, then out maneuver the X Maoh to deliver the killing blow would have been more believable. 2) Mao's trump card of combining Solar Panels and the Satellite System didn't have as much impact as when Sei & Reiji revealed the the Absorb and Discharge Systems. His sudden understanding of the innermost secret of the Shingyo School, that one's gunpla must reflect one's heart, also didn't have the same impact as when Felini displayed his resolve to fight all the way and connection to the Fenice 3) That moment when Misaki tells China she felt sorry for Sei & Reiji could have been expanded. Was she sorry because they were fighting a friend or was she sorry because she thinks they were going to loose? China's reaction to that would have been nice too. 4) Chinan and Ral seem to be friendly and open with each other. I hope that the later episodes explore their relationship more (or maybe in a manga).
When Build Fighters finally gets a DVD/BluRay release, I hope this episode gets a director's cut with a longer fight.
I wish the missile pod/s vulcan pod/s and extra beam saber were used in the episode. I'm hoping the inevitable MG comes with 2 of each of the missile pods and vulcan pods. Also, does this episode destroy an potential of the Abigorbine being released as a HG?
So, the next couple of episodes might look like this: 18: Kawaguchi vs. Renato Brothers 19: Sei/Reiji vs. Nils Nielsen 20: Aila vs. Fellini 21: Sei/Reiji vs. Aila 22: Build-up for... 23: Sei/Reiji vs. Kawaguchi I reckon that Fellini will hold his own against Aila long enough to expose the secret of the Qubeley Papillon's weapons system, which Sei and Reiji will then be able to take advantage of, though their true victory will be to show Aila a battle she can enjoy. There's also a high chance of 22/23 onwards being interrupted by Chairman Mashita's Evil Plan, whatever it is.
So Mao is going to get booted out? Don't think he will join the bad guys though.
Looking at the pairings, the 6 featured characters win + 2 misc characters? Then after that the 6 duke it out with Sei and Reiji winning in the end?
Top 4 will be Reiji/Sei, Aila, Kawaguchi and ? The top right branch, I don't recognize any of the fighters.
Mao predicting the 'exam questions' :P Ok...so thats what the dojo do? In the end Mao chooses not to think to much and just have fun like he had with the Old Master?
So they cut Aila's and Kawaguchi's battles?
Ok, so Mao went back for help. 'In the end its that simple' clique.
Round and bloaty Gundams :P
Enjoyment and having fun, thats the point they keep repeating. Oh no, red Maoh with Maoh sword effect part another new variant kit idea :P lol, they forgot the red when Maoh rushes forward with the sword.
Luang lost!? The Renato bros was laying low and has started to prey.
GM Sniper K9 confirmed OP
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, did the X Maoh v Star Build battle seem a bit off to anyone else? Maybe it's just my imagination

tiny glowing fist > giant glowing beam sword
ReplyDelete#plot armor strikes again
Shining/God Finger is the best weapon against anything.
DeleteSince when does it not?...............
DeleteIt is definitely (obnoxiously) obvious in it's implementation here though. And the fight was SO SHORT! WTF
why not available for Philippines? i was dying to see the episodes.. T-T
ReplyDeleteJust watched it and i'm from the philippines.. Maybe you're using a proxy?
DeleteIt's available. Watched it with PLDT DSL just a while ago.
Deletesearch it on GundamInfo Youtube channel

I can see this series go more than 2 seasons.. really enjoying this series as a whole..

ReplyDeleteI... honestly wanted Mao to win this episode.
they could still possibly loose...remember that Goku lost the first 2 tournaments that he took place in
Delete^I second that. Though I think Sei and Reiji will still get to fight Aila and Meijin losing to the latter.
DeleteI guess it'll be okay if they loose at the ones that doesn't change the result much(like the race), they might get their ass kicked by the Dark Matter then Meijin will revenge them, or maybe Aila that'll be a great love story.

ReplyDeleteYou won't get exciting battle if it's a ranged versus melee unit. In space nonetheless. Both units are very boring and Reiji has no tactics.

ReplyDeleteThat's a custom Brave
DeleteIt's actually a customized Brave, called Graham Gundam AGE SP, one of the winners of a Gunpla competition like all the other ones on the shelf.
DeleteThe Immortal Colasour lives on!
