  1. This is going to be a normal release right?

    1. According to HLJ's show, Gunpla TV, it'll be a regular release! :D Expensive, though.

    6. Yup.. This is going to be normal release.

I'm just waiting to see when the shops (be it from hobby shop, hlj or gginfinite) are going to start taking in pre-orders for this..

    1. That's what the kit looked like at the Gunpla Expo, can't confirm or deny any further than that.

    2. Well... in the Expo it was fluorescent blue (which was growing on me) and the head was colored like the MG hyaku shiki HD, but know it seems we are getting clear blue (which is accurate) and chrome plates

  3. Is it Glossy Gold (MG Hyaku Shiki) or Matted Gold (MG HD Hyaku Shiki)?

    1. This is a gold plated kit. Which is why it's so expensive.

I wish they'd do a release like the Hyaku Shiki HD as it would at least look better where the inevitable nub-marks will be.

  4. What color will the psychoframe become under a black light?

    I found out that:

green psychoframe (Full Armor Unicorn) turns blue
red psychoframe (regular Unicorn) turns pink
    orange psychoframe (Banshee) turns yellow-gold
pink psychoframe (Armed Armor DE) turns orange

But I don't know what the blue will turn into :P

  6. MG REBAWOO NEXT!!!!!!!

  7. Kinda wished they molded this in yellow, like the Mg hyaku shiki w/ ballute pack, it would be cheaper and good for painting. This is like going straight to titanium finish and fixing runner marks would be kinda hard. Still cool nonetheless

  8. Not a fan of the kit, but the box art looks great

  14. So can anyone tell me if there's already a release of a Unicorn Gundam with blue psychoframe?
I'm not particularly interested in the Phenix, but I do want me some blue plates for a white Gundam.

    1. The only 2 Unicorns with blue psychoframe are Phenex and another version of Banshee that was released a few months ago..

    2. As far a I know (read: have checked Dalong), only the Unicorn ANA version has the blue psychoframe. I imagine it would be really, really expensive though.

    1. Since it is recycling the existing Unicorn parts and just plating them I doubt it.

  17. I liked the box art

  18. Just realised how big this bastard is gonna be with those shields on the back, thankfully it says 23cm in one of the articles, so still shorter than the Sazabi... so he'll fit on the same shelf. I love me some MGs but man it's hard to find room for them haha.

  19. I have a question. How does one apply water slide decals to an electroplated kit like this? The decals they show look incredible on this kit. How do they seal them without screwing up the electroplating?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Are the shields matted gold?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll have to literally shit gold to buy this thing

    ReplyDelete
  22. The buyers of this kit are suckers who are fooled with another recycled item from UC.
They don't recognized that Phenex's existence was entirely for profit only (like ReBawoo).

    Think of it:
I'm BanDai, I want to gain more profit so i'll search for a very popular kit that I can recycle.

We choose Unicorn: let's create a story of a "secret" unit 3 so it looks like it existed. Only the Antenna is new like what we did in Banshee

Oh let's make it gold to double the price. I'm sure there are thousands will buy this hehe....

    1. If you can't afford it, don't make a post to slam those who can actually afford it.

    2. The same can be said about all the titanium release Kit like the Nu gundam and the sazabi the will probably be released this year. OH WAIT the phenex is still cheaper. If the price is a issue then don't buy it or wait until hlj's black Friday say and get.

Speaking of suckers what about all the seed fans that buy the seed Mg kits even though most of them are the same basic design but with a different backpack or the ones that are buying the RM kits even though the have the old Mg kit? Every series has recycle kits that people are willing to buy. If you don't like it tough.

    3. Ouch! that hit me >_<'

      Delete
    4. Well there's many other better kits out there than buying another the 3rd Unicorn.
2 Unicorns are too much. Phenex is not included in the laplace painting in the first place so the profit reason is true

    5. Since I have some time, I'm going to try to answer anon6:33's little rant.

It is a little unfair and assuming on your part that the people buying this kit are only "suckers". There are many people who buy kits regardless of scale, classification (NG, RG, HG or MG), and time-line. If they want it, they buy it. Simple as that. That Bandai is doing this for profit is, of course, the point. Bandai isn't making kits for fans, they do it for the money. They improve articulation and innovate their technology for details not because the fans "deserve" it, but because it will mean more profit. Did you honestly think that they made the MG Gundam X for the Gundam X fans? If so, then you are hopelessly naive.

The history of the Phenex isn't included in the novel and I doubt it will be included in Ep. 7. It was made for G-Dome. They didn't make a secret about what it is for. That they made a "story" about it is just for the feature's sake, and may or may not actually be canon. Which is beside the point, I for myself, am buying this because I like it. Bandai never makes kits because they are canon. The Sengoku series aren't canon. The Build Fighters isn't even a proper Gundam series. But they make kits for those two nonetheless.

Third, it is in gold because that was the color they chose to be in it. They could have used puke gold like the original HG release, but opted for a Titanium Finish. This has to be probably the first regular kit in default Titanium Finish (no, the Hyaku Shiki was made in Puke Gold first so it doesn't count). Besides, this is 95% or even 98% reused from existing runners. At least they released it in shiny gold.

    6. But but but... i'm losing hope for those Undergates huhuhu....
BanDai yeah all of it was for money... OUR precious money we gain from wasting days from working just for a recycled non-undergated golden expensive supposed to be non-existing unit that will wreck the epicness of the 7th episode

Oh yeah I buy what I like. We cannot stop other fans from buying what they like. Specially if money is easy for us.

but seriously try to answer this question nicely: Are there any Gundam series from year 2000 to date that matches the epicness of series during the 19's? I think Gundam started focusing on models than series' story since SEED.

SEED and Destiny is a Copycat, fan-made series. Stargazer is nonsense.

AGE is a good series but wasted due to many holes in the story.

OO is very good but as the series goes on, the "REAL robot" feeling fades (aliens and Quantumize)

Unicorn is extremely amazing but I expect failing ratings (personally) IF Phenex appears in the last ep

GunPla builders and Build Fighters are good but reminds me of Let's and Go (Tamiya) and other toy-related series whose characters are geeks who live to play and never thinking of much important things about growing up

whew... I hope the next series is better than any of those stated above. I'll never lose hope.

      Delete
    7. Ok, first off, why did you think the Phenex will appear in the last episode? And how did you come up with the idea that the ratings will fall if it does appear?

Because the Phenex isn't part of the actual Unicorn story, and even if it does appear, the focus will inevitably be on Unicorn and Banshee anyway.

The Phenex itself is pretty popular among the Japanese, I find it funny that some random guy in the internet is so certain that Episode 7's ratings will "fall" just because of one suit. The Japanese Gundam fans aren't that shallow, you know.

And to answer your question: what series from the '90s are you talking about exactly? You see, what is considered "epic" and "awesome" is relative to the person experiencing it. To put in a little perspective, Gundam Wing wasn't really that popular in its initial run in Japan, Gundam X was a flop and its run was cut-short, Victory Gundam had some following, but nowhere near what the first three UC series have. As for movies, Char's Counterattack was a success, but F91 was a broken mess of a movie (that ironically had great potential). The other "series" were mostly shorts, not a full season run, of side stories in the UC timeline.

In contrast, SEED breathed new life in the franchise, 00 was an attempt at a Gundam series with the same feel as most mecha-anime during that time, and AGE was a series directed to kids. Turn A, probably the only GUndam series released in the 2000s that still has that old-school feel, only had a lukewarm reception, mostly from hardcore Tomino fans. Gundam Unicorn is really the first material from the UC timeline to actually garner a wide-spread following.

All of that is from the POV of Japanese audiences. What is "epic" in the occident might not be for those in the orient. And those in the west, should understand that this show is made by people from - and for - the east.

    8. I fully support and respect your comment regarding "the focus will inevitably be on Unicorn and Banshee" =)
regarding epicness.. i refer series with a little "twist" like Turn-A and Gundam G (tournament). UC was also very good treasure hunting story.

  24. As Someone who actually owns the kit, i have to say it is a good kit even if the armed armor ways to much for the back to support and the nub marks are horrendous in some places because there is very little you can do to reduce the effect because of the plating. sand paper should be kept several miles away from any of the gold pieces as the plating will come of with very little effort. the only other issue i have with it is the waist/chest joint which barely stick together even without the legs weight attached.

All i need to do now is see how possible it is to put the full armor equipment on it
