  2. Bravo sir. That seedfags lightbulb thing on damn near every post on this blog doesn't get old at all. You're seriously one of the smartest, original, and most charismatic sunnuvabitches here. You're almost in the same league as the "screw the watermark" guy.

  4. The first SEED was actually pretty okay. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but it was a competent Gundam series, and it hasn't really done anyhing that would warrant all this hate. DESTINY is another story.

DESTINY actually did start out with some promise, but the lazy animation, script writing, and some alleged infighting among staff and storyboard writers (particularly between Naomi Shindou (Cagalli Yula Attha) and Chiaki Morosawa (Series writer and Mitsuo Fukuda's wife) over an alleged affair between Shindou and Fukuda) that probably was the source for a lot of it made things go downhill very fast. Many little bits were randomly added by staff across SEED DESTINY as little "Fuck Yous" to each other. One of the biggest, and most well known of these "Fuck Yous" of course, is how they changed Cagalli. A lot of people liked Cagalli as a hotheaded, yet somewhat charismatic tomboy who tried to face her problems head on. The writers (Specifically Morosawa, out of hatred for Shindou) removed almost all of Cagalli's strong willed personality, and made her a fairly quiet young politician who just sits there and easily gets manipulated by corrupt old men left and right with little strength to fight back with. When she does try to "fight", even when she's on an actual battlefield, she just sits there and cries because no one wants to listen to her talk.

Astray, though it does make some very serious ties with the animated shows from time to time, has little overall to do with the two animated series, and easily stands as its own thing. Many people, even non-SEED fans, tend to hail Astray as the greatest Gundam work to be set within the CE Timeline, and it is very easy to see why. The cast of characters is the biggest highlight. They very eccentric, likable, and almost completely devoid of emos. Lowe Guele especially is a character who's great sense of self-confidence and light hearted but occasionally goofy personality makes him a character you could get attatched to fairly quickly. Many of the mecha designs are fairly unique (most of Astray Red Frame's optional equipment specifically is quite imaginitive), and the short standalone stories that make up Astray can catch and maintain your interest pretty well, and are very easy to follow. SEED Astray has definately earned its amazing reputation. Even amidst the tragedy that was SEED DESTINY, Astray managed to do well enough on it's own as a manga/novel/photonovel series to consistently avoid being lumped into "the worst Gundam ever made" pit like poor, undeserving first SEED was, simply because it was associated with SEED DESTINY.
