Mobile Suit Gundam UC Episode 7 'Over The Rainbow' (Coming in Spring 2014)
Final Gundam UC Volume Extended to About 90 Minutes
Yuko Soen, Bandai Visual's chief producer for the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime series, confirmed with the Bunka Tsūshin website on June 4 that the anime's last volume will be longer than the previous ones. Whereas the previous six volumes were each about 60 minutes long, the staff is planning the next one to be in the 90-minute range.
The seventh and final volume will be released in Japan next spring. The volume will be titled “Niji no Kanata ni” — the Japanese title for the song "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz. The sixth episode was to have been the final one, but the "Film & Live 2012" event revealed that there would be a seventh one.

Oh yay...another year of waiting...thank you Bandai...
ReplyDeleteYou wellcome XD
DeleteMeanwhile keep buy our recycling products XD
more like 6 months ish. theres only 5 months left till december
Deletethen that would be 8-9 months since it comes out in spring
Delete-.-
DeleteSo why a year to make it?? I know thats a bit of a bad question at the moment, but seriously, is it going to be longer or what??
ReplyDeleteIt is a huge budget, to do so, they need founds, to have founds they need to sell UC related gunplas & accessories ... XD
DeleteIts "funds" not "founds".
DeleteDamn grammar Nazi
DeleteThat's not being a grammar Nazi. That's using correct words.
DeleteFound it... :D
Deletemaybe japan is using new currency called japanese founds for funding the really cool gundam series
DeleteWhat the hell? I thought they would have a good chunk of work already done for the finale seeing as only 6 episodes were planned for originally.
ReplyDeleteLast one is a full fledged 2h show supposedly.
DeleteAbout 70min last I heard, so short of a Gundam movie.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAnd there goes my PG kit...:( It was originally predicted that episode 7 was coming out November/December...which would be perfect marketing for a perfect grade...
ReplyDeleteNow that Age is over Unicorn has the entirety of Sunrise's budget to itself. Lucky guys I hope they don't waste it.
ReplyDeleteI heard the novel ending sucked. Banagher goes into a eva-style newtype acid trip and the Unicorn abrupty leaves. The end.
ReplyDeleteyeah..bs
DeleteHey Sunrise, did you hire Christopher Nolan/JJ Abrams to do the finale?
ReplyDelete2014...35th anniversery of the first mobile suit gundam series.
ReplyDeletewow an entire year for something thats not gonna be more than 120 minutes, seems a bit excessive.
ReplyDeleteBandai's gotta milk Unicorn for as long as it can. At least until its next hit whenever that will be (Code Geass OVAs?).
DeleteIf quality is assured, I don't mind waiting. Based on the ending of ep 6 and the novel, it's gonna need a lot more than 60mins to resolve(SPOILER ALERT):
ReplyDeleteUnicorn vs Banshee
Banshee vs Kyshtriya
Unicorn vs Rozen Zulu(with Psycho Jammer)
Unicorn vs Sinanju
Banagher vs Full Frontal(out of MS)
Banagher and Mineva meets Syam Vist
Firing of Colony laser
Rainbow Unicorn and Riddhe's change of alliance
Not if they pull the Ep4 route and drastically retcon the story.
Delete(SPOILERS ABOUT SO DON'T READ IF U HAVEN'T SEEN 4)
DeleteI Doubt they'll change it as much as they did 4. That novel was too politically challenging to translate into a movie effectively marketed to young teens. it addressed very real world issues, and while it painted out Loni Garvey's past (and demise) in a larger since....It also approached a lot of religious and Mideastern issues.
I love the plot behind novel 4 but in all honesty, it would have cost them an entire viewing audience (you would be surprised as to how many people in the Middle East watch Gundam) as well as offended a few more sensitive people. The message Unicorn delivers would be effectively lost as well. No one would look past Mahdi Garvey's gruff and evil portrayal and would completely miss the whole point Loni made about burdening the past sins of family.
They'd simply see him as racist and kind of want him dead. At least OVA 4 painted him out to be more of a Zeonic Martyr, true to the cause. Mahdi effectively says fuck you to Zeon.
OVAs are supposed to have a lot less restrictions than TV series. I mean if 00 could touch on middle eastern issues, there's no reason why Unicorn can't do the same and more. The retcons to Ep4 turned Loni into a complete psychopath yet expected us to feel sorry for her. It also wasted too much time on mecha porn that did nothing to advance the plot.
DeleteTo be honest, I think the reason why Ep4 turned out the way it did was because the production team realized they were running out of time and panicked. This was before Episode 7 was announced which thankfully gave the series some breathing room.
Seem like Riddhe becomes the new prime minister in Gundam ??? While the new enemy arrives at the Frontier sides.
Deletefor the record, i never considered loni psychopathic during the entirety of episode 4. that was a fit of insanity (likely caused by a reaction with shamblo's psycoframe) that caused her to attack the city out of revenge.
Deletealso, fun fact: banagher is of middle eastern descent. Syam Vist was born and lived in the middle east up until UC 0001.
Loni had no character development (in the OVA) to give us any reason why we should feel sympathy for her. The music setup and speech she gave at the end tried too hard to elict emotions that simply wasn't there.
DeleteEpisode 4 also showed Banagher at his absolute worst. Refusing to fire on someone he met for like 2 minutes who was indiscriminately killing civilians.
Maybe a bit late, but:
DeleteLoni isn't sympathetic, because she isn't SUPPOSED to be. The entire purpose of her and of the massacre scene is to completely disassemble the whole concept of Newtypes (that perfect Understanding Without Misconceptions somehow results in No More Fighting). Banagher was able to Understand her, to reach right into the very core of her being to see what motivates her, and vice-versa...and in the end, it did nothing. Loni couldn't stop, and was never going to. She was far too entrenched in her hatred and the cause she was raised for, something set up rather nicely in the screen time she was given prior to the attack. And so, Understanding failed. If Loni were a sympathetic character, like in the novels, it wouldn't have worked quite so well; in fact, I find her novel character rather bland and unoriginal in her tragedy.
As for Banagher, what he did may have seemed ridiculous (Riddhe certainly thought so), but it's not an action taken on pure blind faith. Remember that weird slow-down moment when he first met Loni? Banagher felt something - like he did with Marida, the last Newtype he fought. What ended the battle with her? Psychoframe resonance and Understanding. Banagher just came out of a fight where two people that met quite a bit to him died - Gilboa DIRECTLY by his hand - so he tried a previously proven strategy that didn't involve killing. there was precedent for a path less bloody to succeed, so he took it, even if it made sense to him and him only.
And guess what? He was wrong. His plan failed. It's an important moment in his development and one of the major things that sets him apart from Gundam's other Superhuman-Pacifists like Kira Yamato. Banagher is allowed to be horribly, catastrophically wrong, and is allowed to grow from the experience. Like him or dislike him, Banagher receives rather solid development over the course of the series.
I'll blow a fuse if Unicorn don't go green in his MF weapon mode in ep6.
ReplyDeleteThe wait wouldn't be so bad if they added in the Gundam UC prequel (The Postwar War)with episode 7
ReplyDeleteAnd what about Full Frontal's new Mobile Suit/Mobile Armor? If it's not from the novels... then Bandai is cooking something...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that it taste good
DeleteThis had better be one epic battle if we're supposed too wait for one year. Don't they have a prewritten script for this or something? I don't think Bandai really needs to put effort to milking Unicorn anymore. The OVA is extremely popular and the climax is always what most people want to see. Still I suppose given the how the fights are supposed to play out they need some planning time on how to not to make it a clusterf***.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think Unicorn is starting to feel more and more like a sidestory rather than a huge event in UC history? I dunno, Episode 1 felt like it was the opening to another war but later episodes made the conflict feel less significant next to F91 and Victory. Not that I think its bad, just something I observed.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteWhy were you expecting some sort of war? They cant go creating a huge event that is never mentioned in stories based further on in the UC timeline.
DeleteUnicorn is an isolated political situation.
And at the root of it are three powerful families and one clone
DeleteTrue to form, it did try to link itself to F91 in a back-handed way: since Anaheim had a definite hand in the series of events through Martha's faction of the Vist Foundation (and what I suspect to have been a political nightmare for the EF post-Unicorn), it gradually lost grip of the EF and was eventually supplanted by the then-budding SNRI as the prime arms developer.
DeleteSo its 90min then. That sounds promising. I hope it can deliver a good ending, though judging by the events of F91 it will all be for nothing :(
ReplyDeleteDunno. Zeon as we know it is pretty much gone, possibly because they've finally achieved the thing they wanted (no Unicorn spoilers for you!), or because opening Laplace's Box has finally unified the world in the sense that there is no longer a need to fight one another. The shift to lighter, more compact MS can be seen as a economical move for the Feds in response to the lack of enemies to fight. Londo Bell's eventual decadence would also mean there was no longer a need for hunters.
DeleteI wouldn't be suprised if Zeon remants reformed into the Crossbone Vanguard after Unicorn.
DeleteI wish Sunrise would make more late UC works after Unicorn. I'm tired of Federation vs Zeon.
for some reason im really hoping there to be a simultaneous release of the RG Zeonganju and RG Unicorn for this thing.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that brony gundam pilot Again is a real sight for sore eyes unlike destiny, age, and gunpla fighters.
ReplyDeleteBuild fighters isn't even out yet! For all we know it could be the greatest Gundam show ever made.
DeleteBut no UC gundam type ms that's just lame and disrespectful.
DeleteUm the Gundam mk-II is there and no doubt we'll see more UC suits as the series progresses.
DeleteJust bring back Amuro and Char from the dead/Bryston's well/cryogenic sleep/psychoframe remnants/deserted tropical beach and I'll be one happy fan.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it's NOT "the" SEED movie I'm happy. What a blunder of a series and project. Good riddance.
ReplyDeleteUnicorn has been great, I'm really going to miss it
Just Shut Up!. Understandable... But Shut the fuck up!
Delete+1 year waiting for only 30 extra minutes... FUCK YOU BANDAI, FUCK YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been waiting an extra year you moron. Episode gap is the same as the last one.
Delete@OP
DeleteYou will eat those words when you see the episode.
they should make Crossbone Gundam OVA, hoping to see the crossbone gundams in action.
ReplyDeleteYeah...Give us Crossbone Gundam!!!
DeleteI'm glad they're gonna give the story some room to breath in this last stretch.
ReplyDeleteSooo who's holding the death flags this final ep? Full Frontal is a safe bet I think, maybe Angelo too. On the heroes' side, I say Captain Otto and Marida since they're the senpais of the series and scent of pineapple is fresh in the air lol. Rest will probably live.
ReplyDelete*SPOILERS SPOILERS* If they are going to stay faithful to the ending of the novel, then say good bye to Full Frontal and Marida. I did hear before that Full Frontal's origin in the OVA may differ from his novel version, so his ultimate Faye may differ as well. I'd like to see Marida survive but seeing as this is a UC story I am expecting more death and tragedy to move the characters along.
DeleteFate* stupid auto correct on phone lol
DeleteNew Unicorn looks much better than that horrible Phenix design.
ReplyDeleteha, they were just ripping ex-exbein's design from the super robot war series
Deletetalk about some creativity
So at some point after the custer fu*k full armor settup they get the Shield in this madness. I have got to see this.
ReplyDeleteAlso here's thinking 90 minute wont even be enough O_O
just cause its white and red you assumed its the unicorn? didnt you notice the V-fin and the chestplate?
Deletelol. I see now
Deletetime goes by so fast
ReplyDeletei remember when episode 1 just came out
Norn NT-D looks quite nice in red and white
ReplyDeletei want to watch it on theatre.....
