Mobile Suit Gundam Blu-ray Memorial Box Set (Release Date: Aug. 28th 2013, Price: 36,750 yen)
It was just announced the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime TV series (43 episodes) will be released in Japan this summer in Blu-ray format. The announcement mentioned that more info will be available soon.
Mobile Suit
Gundam (機動戦士ガンダム
Kidō Senshi Gandamu, also known as First Gundam, Gundam 0079 or simply Gundam
'79?) is a televised anime series, produced by Sunrise. Created and directed by
Yoshiyuki Tomino, it premiered in Japan on Nagoya Broadcasting Network on April
7, 1979, and lasted until January 26, 1980, spanning 43 episodes. It was the
very first Gundam series, which has subsequently been adapted into numerous
sequels and spin-offs.
Lets hope they fix all the animation errors n' stuff
ReplyDeleteDoes it say remaster?
DeleteThen no, they wont do anything to the animation.
Yeah and SEED will always be remastered because we love it and not the old and original Gundam
Delete^^^Oh god... why...
Delete@ anonymous 9:51. Yah that's the reason bandai decided too remaster seed and not 0079 it's couldn't possibly have anything too do with the fact that seed has a smaller fan base and product line the the U.C. Line. Or the simple fact that fan of the original gundam don't care if it's remastered or not they except it for what it is and like. But im glad you guys are getting seed remastered it's just not for me and you seed guys hate when anyone talks down on seed so why are you guys doing it here. So enjoy you reprocessed seed and record breaking numbers of 4 new kits being released in the last 5 years or what ever the number is.
DeleteSeed got the second highest ratings ever next to Zeta. Of course it treated like royalty over in Japan. The original got cancelled remember?
DeleteAnyway if they still did cel animation like in the 80s or 90s I would like to see them remaster some scenes but not now after seeing the frankenstein monster that is the Zeta movies.
What do bad shows have to do with Mobile Suit Gundam?
DeleteMaybe because it's unoriginal?
Lets see it as it was aired, with all the errors. After all... is a classic. The very beginning of Gundam.
ReplyDeleteLeeching some money before The Origin comes out?
ReplyDeleteSunrise denied of The Origin Anime or OAV being made. So no.
DeleteWhere did you read that info. Only what i can find is that Sunrise is making Origin in 2014 so... ;x
DeleteNothing is confirmed until Sunrise puts out a press release. I don't care what some article, actor or producer says. Its all groundless rumor until they make an official list of cast and crew.
DeleteLet's see if it doesn't cost an arm, a leg, and several of my organs to get. (Spoiler: it likely will)
ReplyDeleteSo who wants to take the over/under on it being $300 USD
ReplyDeleteI have the DVD. I like it as how I remember watching it on a 20 something inch tube TV back in 81. Like G1 Transformers, it's a nostalgia thing.
ReplyDeleteI have the LD boxes and the US DVD. I can't imagine them doing anything that would make it worth another dropping $500. It was 1979 animation shot on 16mm after all, not exactly Laurence of Arabia. The flaws were all quite visible even on VHS.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I don't want anything fixed or scrubbed out or DNRed. I hate that crap.
Tem Ray would buy this.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the infamous lost episode is included in this set.
ReplyDeleteHi Gundam Guy

ReplyDeleteDoes Bandai still not learn? Unless this BluRay set remasters all the episodes with HD resolution, and like redrawn/re-animated scenes, not really worth that much.
Its about half the price of the SEED HD blu-ray collection.
DeleteA far better story for a far better price
Hey shit-on 629! First off it's marketed for the Japanese market not the American this normal for they Blu-Ray sets.
DeleteSecond it's still a better deal then you seed set. tell me if seed was remastered why is there still so many animation errors? Ture anime and gundam fans see 0079 as a classic series and love for that. While a lot of people see the remastered seed remastered set as bandai attempt to polish a turd. I hate seed! Not because it's basically the same story concept as 0079 but because it has such a shitty fan base. You guys are such a annoying bunch of lil turds that hates everything thats not seed. Just shut up.
Motherfucking bullshit-on66629!!!
DeleteThey've learned that they can charge that much and make tons of money, yeah, they've learned.
DeleteBTW, the LD boxes were more than double that price 15 years ago.
It DOES NOT matter what is "normal" for Japanese blu-ray releases. They are still getting taken to the cleaners. Most businesses would LITERALLY have to kill to get profit margins like what they are going to get off of these discs. I think the Japanese consumer must either be made of money or just plain stupid. I don't care if it's marketed to rental shops, it's still overpriced unless it included like 10 copies of each disc or something.
DeleteFuck, I can't believe I am supporting suiton on something. Please kill me now.
So this is the reason we are getting MG RX-78 3.0 in August.
ReplyDeleteThe kit to feed off the publicity of the blu-ray release and vice versa.
Any chance of us getting a regular blu ray release that doesn't require severing a limb or performing human transmutation? I've always wanted a regular release that isn't hard to find or over priced. 0079 is one of my favorite animes of all time. I guess it's common for box sets in Japan to be this much, but I would be happy with just a normal release and none of these extras.
ReplyDeleteHuman transmutation always works! Though in this case, I'd probably try transmuting a couple $100 bills first LOL.
DeleteI rather have the compilation movie re-released on Blu-Ray.
ReplyDeleteit's like Michael Bay priced Gundam!
