Namco Bandai will be launching their Playstation 3 Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation online game on June 28th 2012. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation is an online action game where
you control Gundam in 6 on 6 battles. The goal is simple – crush your enemies. A
screenshot shows a radar in the top right, multiple weapons to switch between,
and text chat in the bottom left corner. Namco Bandai is planning for this title
to be a deep game players can enjoy for a long time for free.
Namco Bandai says players will be able to customize mobile suits to be well
rounded, snipers or melee mechs. The game even has a grappling system for
players that want to get up close and personal. When you tackle another player
you press a button and if the defending player presses the same button they can
escape. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation also has a cover system
for players that prefer guns to metal fists.Winners receive parts to customize their mech and pilot after battle. Famitsu has screenshots of those, but do not say if Namco Bandai plans on selling additional parts as paid downloadable content.

i take it this piece of awesomeness is Japan only and not coming to the U.S.?
ReplyDeleteNot meaning to offend here at all, SC, but I don't believe it's hard to figure out the answer to your question and why (without even having to ask). Yet somehow, plenty of people tend to ask the question you've just asked (regarding whatever Japan-only Gundam game), causing me to ask myself, "...Does every Gundam/mecha fan in North America know how popular Gundam really is?"
DeletePlenty of non-Gundam/anime fan NA gamers will see Gundam: Battle Operation (or Operation Troy for X-Box 360), and they'll simply say: "...It's Battlefield [#] with giant robots." and then they'll go back to playing Battlefield 3 dogfighting in the air, sniping people on the ground, or moving around in a tank.
Given that it's free to play, it seems what may be just needed to play Battle Operation is a Japanese PSN account. Cheaper than importing Gundam Extreme Vs. and playing on any PSN account online... *shrug*
(...Though it's worth importing GEV, in my view. A fun game, online or off.)
DeleteCOME TO U.S AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH

ReplyDelete2 things i hate about it.. 1 it's in japs... 2. you can only play it 3 times and after that you'll have to wait hours for those turns to be full again.... dafuq
ReplyDeleteThe only one thing that i hate about it is The japaneses players. They like to run in circles all the Fu#$%% time. You play with another people: they play as a team and cover u
