Aw yeah. Destiny Gundam first prize!
ReplyDelete...Which I felt it shouldn't have been awarded. *shrug*
DeleteI don't fault you, Anon, for liking Destiny Gundam (let alone over Epyon). I don't care about the supposed originality/lack there-of arguments about it and others.
...But how exactly did that Destiny Gundam win over that customized Epyon? Granted, I wasn't a judge, I'm not the best Gunpla modeler, I probably am too layman to get the finer details, but aren't the finer details harder if a given customized model remains in the same configuration and color scheme?
Look at the Epyon below it. The color scheme change is simple, yet very fitting (perhaps more-so than it's default red). The additional customization works for it as well. The person who built it actually gave it some uniqueness with the kitbashing. Regardless of whether I like Epyon better than Destiny or not, I would've placed it higher than that MG Destiny for it's much more noticeable effort and excellent execution of kitbashing. Hell, despite preferring AC designs over UC and CE to an extent, I might place that Full Armor Banshee above the two, were it not entered in a different category.
But the photos are not that big or detailed, and I'm not that skilled enough to tell what made the judges pick this Destiny over the customized Epyon (with the provided images). *shrug*
(I do remember--from a year or two ago--seeing some damn good MG SEED kits--including Destiny--that had very exotic-looking customizations that would've easily stolen the show, had they been in this contest.)
kitbashing is not really detailing isnt it? when you kitbash, you took parts from other kits and just find a way to install that onto the other model.. which is unlikely of the destiny gundam.. the modeller took a lot of effort into adding pla plates to some parts, very small parts mind you, scribing addtional panel lines. although it is still on its original color scheme, you can see the two toned color that the modeler used. also adding details in the internal part of the wings. Effort my friend, also counts.
DeleteDoes anyone know what parts have been added to the banshee unicorn gundam? Looks very impressive!
ReplyDeleteit's the full armor unicorn armaments just used in the banshee
