If that Ball is really a 1/144-scaled HGUC model, then it's more than just a color variant. A simple comparison of any of those images to either your very own HGUC Ball (if you have one) or an image of Dalong's review of it would prove that. Those extra manipulator arms has been a staple of the more modernized Ball design, and I like it here.
That's not to mention the other small details that give it a more mechanical and construction-based design--which the Ball was before the OYW. I think I like the extra panels and those metal railings "sandwiching" the eye/hatch in the middle there, even if such extra details may make it stand out against less-detailed 1/144s of past and present. *shrug*
