HG 1/144 0 Gundam (WIP)

This WIP update will focus on the work done to the waist of the HG 1/144 O Gundam using my new G-Temple Chisels.

Here was the work preview from last post:

This image details the work performed to the waist area of the kit:

Obviously, I wasn't able to get much more done than the waist this past weekend. Hopefully I will be able to move things along in a faster pace.

  4. You really know how to wield those chisels. I really want a set of them after seeing what you've done here. The tip with the dymo label is great! Also super glue and baby powder? Never thought of that! Do you draw your panel lines on first or do it all by eye?
Very enjoyable and immaculately presented WIP once again.

  5. @Everyone: Thanks for the nice comments. After using the G-Temple Chisels, I must say it is worth the money. A must buy for modders.

@Tonzo: A note about the super glue w/ baby powder. It is only for small fixes, I use a toothpick and lightly cover a dent / hole with super glue. And then pour baby powder on top. Once is dried.. just sand it away until surface is flat & smooth. This quick fix only takes 5 mins...much better than using putty w/ long dry time.

As for panel lining, I definitely draw them on first. Using rulers & lead pencil to make sure the lines are straight & symetrical to other pieces. Sometimes I get lazy and just eyeball it, and thats just how my drill hole issue occured...

  6. I've done the same thing with eyeballing drill holes. It's good to learn your easy fix method. Thanks for sharing! What does the baby powder do?

  8. @Tonzo: If just using superglue, then it will turn pretty hard, and become a hassle to sand. But if you add babypowder onto the superglue before it dried (which it will mix together upon contact), then it would then have a fine granule qaulity, and very easy to sand away. Hope I made sense.

@A1S: Thanks. I will be painting it in its original colors. But most likely a lighter shade of blue.

  9. That is an outstanding tip. I hesitate to use superglue because it sets so hard.

  10. superglue + babypowder in large quantity will produce a toxic smoke / smell. So don't get too excited and wear a mask!
