Step inside the Glorious Gundam Hotel - VIDEO & UPDATED INFO [News via Kotaku]

Starting today, Tokyo's Grand Pacific Le Daiba hotel has three Gundam themed hotel rooms for the Amuro Ray in all of us. Tokyo's Grand Pacific Le Daiba is located near Gundam Front Tokyo.

Gundam Front Tokyo, which features a huge, life-size Gundam statue and a museum, opened April 19 in the neighborhood and has turned out to be a popular attraction. The hotel's campaign is part of an effort in the area to take advantage of Gundam's popularity.

Earlier this year, a life-sized Gundam was erected in Tokyo's Odaiba (again!), and the hotel is hoping to capitalize on the increased Gundam tourism.

The theme rooms, dubbed "Project Room G," have illustrations of characters on the walls and other Gundam-related ornaments. Rates start at ¥27,000 (US$340), and the above video provides a tour of two rooms, including showing off the complementary amenities. Guests should free to dream of life-sized Gundam. Japanese politicians already are.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation went live today on Japan's Playstation Network. The game can be easily downloaded for free with the use of a Japan PSN account. Yes, you can access and play this game even if you do not live in Japan. =)

Once the game was installed... I was able to get an online match going within minutes.

Played a few matches... and I must say this game ROCK! Although I couldn't give a good critique of the game with the brief time I had with it. But surely, heading into battle with a team of Zakus against a team of GMs is quite exhilarating for a UC fan like myself. Will definitely be investing more time playing this... perhaps more thoughts about this game later.

Gunpla Builders World Cup 2012 – Next U.S. Championship Contest @ Anime Expo 2012 [Los Angeles]

Gunpla World Cup 2012 – U.S. Championship

Bluefin, Bandai Hobby's official distributor in the United States, will be holding three more rounds of competitions at U.S. anime-related events to determine U.S. semi-finalists for the 2nd annual GunPla Builders World Cup. The three remaining rounds will be held at this year's Anime Expo (June 29-July 2), Otakon (July 27-29), and New York Comic Con (October 11-14).

Semi-finalists chosen from these rounds will join winners with entries designated "Best in Show" from the already-held rounds at Sakura-Con, Anime Central, and A-Kon to compete once again in order to determine the U.S. Representative for the competition finals.

Best in Show recipients from U.S. events so far include Jack Elliot Nunn's HGUC Geara Zulu (Sakura-Con), Benny Herrera's Beargguy (Anime Central), and Brian Cash's U-Suit 47 Gogg, photos of which are available below. More photos of award winners are available on the competition's website.

The preliminary rounds have both Open (15 and older) and Junior (14 and younger) age categories, and awards for Best in Show, Best 1/100, Best 1/144, Best SD, and Best Out of Box will be given to entrants. Entries must be made from original Bandai Gundam kits, though modification, remodeling, and so on of the kits is permitted. Other rules, including those on size limitations, are published on Bluefin's official contest website.

The finals of the World Cup will take place at the Gundam Front Tokyo entertainment complex on Tokyo's artificial island of Odaiba this December. Representatives from 13 countries or areas in total will compete in this year's competition: Japan, Italy, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, North America, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
