Can someone explain to me as to why most places I go is this gundam so popular? what are its abilities, and why is Bandai always publishing models based on this design?
Well, just look it up on a wiki site to see its stats. The fact that it is a very MASSIVE mobile suit is one cool feature. It has unique funnels (funnel missiles), Minovsky craft system ( basically soar around even within the atmosphere with unprecedented maneuverability and no drag despite its huge bulk), and is (for now) seen as one of the last line of large scale mobile suits before they start developing smaller scaled suits in the later Universal Century (like f91, crossbone, victory, etc). As for models, I can only think of 1 official bandai "model" kit...this sd release shown here. Bandai had released a Xi during the FIX Figuration series but i personally don't consider that a model, nor do I consider the Robot Damashii release (But it sure is bad ass lookin), and there was a much earlier SD kit that had strong similarities to the Xi Gundam (BB147 Kidoubujin Tengaioh, look it up!). I guess another reason it may be popular is it was piloted by Hathaway Noa, Bright Noa's son. That help?
