Sinanju Stein
Gundam AGE-1 Gransa
Jesta Cannon
That resolution is very low. High res pic please...
ReplyDeleteCan't agree more
DeleteClick on the image. There you can get about 1000x1500 image resolution. That's big enough I think.
Deleteclick the image, then right click and select "open image in new tab" or some equivalent. It should open a larger image than that given in the slideshow.
DeleteAre we allowed to alter or add to the design of the mobile suit?
ReplyDeleteOh man, interesting contest. I won't be entering since my PS skills are nonexistent, but I look forward to seeing some cool color schemes that I can borrow or use as inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIt says you can use crayons, color pencils, etc. Lack of Photoshop skill is no longer an obstacle.
DeleteThats what i did for mine, Colored pencils for life!!!
DeleteSome of the lining does suck. I'm trying to bucket fill but certain places bleed out to the entire image instead of being contained within the specific armor part.
ReplyDeleteReally now? You can just "plug" the area where the paint bleeds out, you know.
DeleteThank GIMP for "Color to Alpha".
DeleteAlright! I'm already working on it.
ReplyDeleteYeah will someone please clear this out? I want to use My Screen Name too :)
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who can't color it? Whenever I try to fill anything, it's pixelated as hell.
ReplyDeleteScreen name is fine.
ReplyDeleteStill no word on the prizes?
ReplyDeleteWow, great prizes!
ReplyDeleteBest luck to the contestant! may the power of gundam be in your hands! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone (:

ReplyDeleteThe Jesta Cannon link seems broker or not available yet today (April 4, 2013 05:01 AM, Indonesia Local Time) http://gundamguy.blogspot.com/2013/03/gg-infinite-march-contest-jesta-cannon.html. It said "Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist."
ReplyDeletelol, within in all the prelims; it looks like only two realized that those things on the right arm are ammo cartridges.
ReplyDeleteno camo scheme include, so unpredictable...
ReplyDeleteCongratulation!
Congrats!!! i really like the choices... its definitely evident that some of them have that autobot colors. roninmastermix- has optimus prime(pretty obvious), akongasi has the dinobot grimlock color scheme and Tom with the Jazz.. or possible some other anime lol i cant put my finger on it. LOL juno ono (i think that's the name) has a duel gundam scheme, just below that one has almost a sound wave color scheme so definitely most of these guys had the theme of tranfromers with the exception of the duel gundam. the rest of them have oretty standard and unique schemes at the same time. Either way guys good job, congrats guys!!!
ReplyDeleteDustin's is the Mudrock color scheme from Zeonic Front.
DeleteFun fact...My entry's color scheme is not based on the Duel Gundam.
DeleteHere's an image if you'd like to compare it: http://www.tomopop.com/ul/23160-/01-noscale.jpg
They probably let Dustin 'OZkai' Wilkinson win something because he didn't rely on photoshop or similar program.
ReplyDeleteA tool is only as good as the person that's using it.
Deleteyeah true. but since there are people on here are saying it is unfair for people without photoshop have no chance going against people uses photoshop. My guess is that the judges probably gonna pick the best free hand drawing for the win so they can say that "see you don't need photoshop and still create a good piece of art".
DeleteYou know, the similarities in attitude between the Jesta Cannon's pilot, Watts, and the Mudrock's pilot, Agar, are uncanny...
ReplyDeleteIsn't using color scheme of other mech should be considered cheating? They didn't thought the color scheme themselves.
ReplyDeletethat is what i was thinking too, these are not unique. but i'm glad they decided to pick the most detailed and the best one is akongasimark, hope he wins first. Even some overly done camo scheme are uniquely better than the other 7. i'm not a sour lemon btw :)
Deleteakongasimark's entry looks too busy and overdone. Detailing is good and all, but too much can make the overall appearance look messy. Sometimes you gotta have a sense of balance when it comes to art. This goes the same for a lot of the other entries.
DeleteFor me, it's how you pull it off kind of thing. Using another mech's color scheme can be tricky. It has its advantages and disadvantages. I agree with akongasimark's entry being over detailed. Too much of good isn't really good.
DeleteIt's dissapointing seeing that alot of the finalists are safe and unoriginal color schemes. There were lots of good, orignal and imaginative designs to choose from.
DeleteSounds like someone is being a sore loser...
DeleteIt's nice to see and we all should recognize this, that G.G. is aiming for the best of all the stipulated features on the category. He did consider the color scheme, detailing and presentation overall on the entries. Sure there were some really original schemes and sure there are some that put more effort than some of the finalists but many, if viewed in the overall presentation and execution, failed in comparison to the solid entries of the finalists. If i were to make one exception is that savvi's entry should be there as i think it had a better execution that one or two of these finalists.
DeleteThanks to everyone that supported my work. 2/3 is more than enough for me as a finalist. Goodluck to everyone who got in.
ReplyDeleteYou Deserve it! :) 'Gratz! and goodluck :)
Deletegood job bro!!! :) really well done!
Deleteoh snap!!! thats awesome!!! anh le, roninsmastermix and mudakir finalist!!! dang congrats guys , hope one of you guys win!!! :) really good job on these color scheme!!! either way all the contest finalist choices are really good!!! :) im glad ignacio for the stein color sheme got choosen shows that you really dont need photoshop or computer rendring skills to get picked, really suprising, its just pure skill thats fair right? hahaha all the stein color shcemes are really well done... honestly thats gonna be a hard pick for the judges. I vote for mudakir still.
ReplyDeletethe gransa ummm i think theres a few in there that could possibly take the cake! i still vote anh le and roninmastermix for the win!!!
good luck guys.
kyousakee is everywhere!!! 0_o damn!!! Good Luck to All Finalist!!
ReplyDeleteHey guys. As one of the judges I wanted to weigh in a bit on the selection process.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, holy crap, it was incredibly hard to pick out my favorites for GG. There were just so many fantastic entries that I would love to replicate any number of them on my own kits. There were some entries that are really close to other contestants and those were near impossible to choose between.
Second, speaking for myself, I did my judging based on the colours and how they went together to form the whole kit. How they interact with each other and the design of the kit are very important aspects. I tried to visualize how they would look animated or done up on a model. I won’t lie, some of the cleaner colouring jobs are easier to visualize than others, but I looked at all equally. I wasn’t swayed by any backgrounds or special effects.
At some point judging artistic works comes down to mere subjective viewpoints. What I like on a personal level may not match what GG and Patrick Grade prefer. I think this helped result in a great set of finalists. If you know me you can probably tell my favorites but I’m not going to say ;)
I also wanted to comment on a previous post about folks taking designs from other sources. Speaking more directly to the hobby of Gunpla, being able to take an existing scheme and mesh it with something else is a lot of fun. The best demonstrate ingenuity of their own by being able to take a scheme not mean for a kit and incorporate it successfully.
That said, as an avid Gunpla enthusiast, I hope that everyone who entered a scheme picks up their airbrush, paintbrush, or spray can and gets to work on a kit of their own. I really hope to see some of these making the rounds! Or else I’m going to have to start stealing them for myself…
agree, i also want apply that 08th team color theme and that mr.bushido color theme to my upcoming gransa
DeleteThanks :) I was pretty much surprised that I even made it in! X_X I mean everyone really put a lot of extensive effort and did exceptionally well :) You also get my vote with your out of the box entries :)
ReplyDelete-Kyou
The finalist are truly awesome!!! Congratulations to those finalist and good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd better learn something from these...
That optimus prime jesta, game over man, game over!
ReplyDeletegio tengco stein is too cool. may i use that color scheme to paint my gundam? it looks like something people can easily achieve for a cool looking sinanju.
ReplyDeletecross mirage and archash's sinanju color scheme are way more interesting than at least 4 of the other sinanju. oh well, their game, their rules.
ReplyDeletedon't push it man. you're not getting the reader's choice award. too desperate eh?
Deletethe details said that they will announce the winners on the 5th. it's already the 8th and still no results.
ReplyDeleteThey said they will pick the top 3 of the categories on the 5th. They did mention that they will try to get the results of who won on sunday, the 7th, unless scheduling conflicts get in the way.
DeleteMust be really having a hard time Judging...
Delete1st.Duel AS
ReplyDelete2nd.Mudrock
3rd.Ingram
Really team GG? originality means nothing to you guys? I didn't even participate yet still feel very disappointed.
Now we know the sort of "Creativity, Element of Art" they're looking for. I suppose the next contest we would see many recognizable themes.
DeleteFun-Fact: Duel Gundam AS has a completely different color scheme.
Deletehttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w-ZKIlxIJU4/TyaPI8GmXoI/AAAAAAAARh8/oHntOCm4PG8/s1600/14f26854251815.jpg <here's an image for reference.
Next time, try to actually submit an entry before talking down on others who actually made some sort of effort. ;)
@Juno-Uno: Fun fact, that's totally look alike. You just made several difference so it's not 100% similar, but the color pallet are exactly the same. And i'm glad i didn't waste my time here. I truly feel pity for those who invest a great amount of time and effort for originality.
DeleteAgree, totally unoriginal. thumbs down
DeleteIt's disappointing to see how people are overly critical without any proper basis for their criticism.
Deletehttp://i.imgur.com/0Ew5Vu6.jpg?1?4757
You can clearly see there the AS color scheme compared to Juno's. Vastly different in every way. I cannot disagree more on how people associate his color scheme with the AS. Another point in contention is that fact that Juno relied more on the Navy blue which is about 70+ % of the scheme of design he had as opposed to the AS. What's more, it was never an "originality" contest. I challenge anyone to come up with a totally original color scheme that is not inspired by any published work. Then i will change my mind.
Ultimately, its much more disappointing that people are more inclined to criticize than to commend. Criticizing is not bad, but put it in its place. Again, congrats to Juno. It's your time to shine and you're the one getting the prize, bask in it, ignore the invalid criticisms.
I personally think Juno deserves too win. He always puts a lot of work into his projects and I like the use of the tan and navy blue Also as for all you people complaining that the first too entries copied each other why don't you fools look closer. Juno and details too his don't you people see the lights and caution makers. There was someone that copied the patlabor jester after it was entered into the contest. And several others that copied each other. But you guys are only bitching about the first and second place winners.
DeleteJuno deserve to win. Its not just about the color scheme, take time to look closely on his work. He put many extra panel lines which really make it more mecha and if you put it on a gunpla it really should look great. Yeah, Effort is everything, without it, you can't advance to higher position even how small or big work it is. CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS!!
DeleteThat PatJesta rofl ..... how original is that, doesnt really deserve win. But oh well, they maybe have difficult time for judging
Delete^Sounds like someone is being a butt-hurt loser...
DeleteHere's a hint: It's slenceart
:)
Cmon how hard copy other mecha color scheme? Its silly, other contestant deserve more
DeleteYay, results are out. Congratulation to the winners! Even though I didn't win, but I feel that most of the entries were superb.
ReplyDeletecongrats to Juno and the rest of the winners. Definitely well deserved.
ReplyDeleteThe top 2 jestas look the same....
ReplyDeleteI remember some people are arguing about GG's favorite color. I think we all know the answer now.
Deleteyeah, ill just do a direct copy of this paint scheme and use it on the up coming one. ;D
DeleteCongrats to the winners! You guys deserved it! ^^
ReplyDeletewow congrat to juno
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS PATJESTA AND TOM,LOVED THE COLOR SCHEME :D
ReplyDeleteHats Off to this Winners!
ReplyDeletehttp://cdn.komixjam.it/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Gargantia3.png
ReplyDelete1st..............same idea???
I approve of the winners for Stein, but find it peculiar that their colours are all similar.
ReplyDeletewhao~, they do. the steins are all similar just like how the jestas are. the gransa will probably have similar schemes to eachother too i bet.
DeleteThey all look like Steins too. Alex Jones, comment?
DeleteCongrats mudakir! :) great job! called it! hahaha
ReplyDeletecongrats to all the winners. That was a great contest. looking forward to another one soon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the win :)very much well deserved.
DeleteAah, I thought Kyousakee would win something. I like the Digital Camo/blue design Gransa, well layout and clean. Well Reader Choice pick from me.
DeleteSecret to winning GG colouring contest:
ReplyDeleteWhite + blue + orange = PROFIT!!!
Next contest, you should try that, see if you win. good luck
DeleteGG's Favorite colors are Red, White, Orange, Green, Blue, Black, Yellow, Purple, Pink. Try it, you will win.
ReplyDeletewhy don't you try it? :P
Deleteso many butt-hurts, im wondering if it is the result of too much thrusting of the awesomeness
ReplyDelete
