1:1 Scale RX-78-2 Gundam Statue To Be Build In Macau?

1:1 Scale RX-78-2 Gundam Statue in Macau
According to an aritcle at www.macaodaily.com, Japan (Bandai) gave the go ahead!
Translation of the article from www.macaodaily.com:
A writer had previously written an article stating that Bandai was going to release the Soul of Chogokin GX049 God Mars (Released by Bandai in 2008).  But at the time, due to the absence of an official announcement, readers posted the article on a Hong Kong toy forum and ridicule the writer.  Afterwards, the news proved to be true.. Bandai released the Soul of Chogokin GX049 God Mars, but no one has yet to apologize to this writer.
This time, the writer has written about the 1:1 scale RX-78-2 Gundam Statue to be build & display in Macau, and folks no longer need to view this attraction just in Odaiba, Japan.  This plan was proposed by the Macau gaming company.  Build price will be well over a billion Macanese pataca (more than $12,500,000 US Dollars).  Japan (Bandai) have already given their go ahead on this project.  It is believe that the statue would be built in the Cotai area in Macau.  Gundam fans can go everyday to view this attraction.  As for the enthusiasts, you may share this news, but only with good intention...
How accurate is this news? Well, I guess having an actual official announcement would help.  But the fact that the article was published at a well established news site in Macau is indeed exciting to know.

Macau (Chinese: 澳門), also spelled Macao ( /məˈkaʊ/), is one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China, the other being Hong Kong. Macau lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta across from Hong Kong to the east, bordering Guangdong province to the north and facing the South China Sea to the east and south.[6] The territory's economy is heavily dependent on gambling and tourism, but also includes manufacturing.

  5. This won't be a far stretch. Ever since the Gambling Industry in Macau took off, there has been lots of bigger than life construction there (a indoor replica of Venice canals on the top floor of a skyscraper, a pyramid and a oriental undersea style palace to name a few), a giant statue of a mobile suit is hardly surprising. In fact, I'd be more surprised if they don't add a dozen more gimmicks into their version.

  7. Lol
I live in Macau and I'm Chinese. Seriously, never thought that of all places, we'll be getting one here.
To all those thinking every Chinese is anti-Japan, it's not true.

While in Mainland China, it's extremely chaotic, it's a different case in Macau. Besides, Macau is a place with not only Chinese, but foreigners as well (Lots of them in Taipa).

My parents are kind of anti-Japan for now I guess, but the issue will be resolved sooner or later. There is no riot in Macau or any kind. The Chinese people in Mainland China are actually using anti-Japan as an excuse to rob stores of goods. Those extremists should just die.

Even though Macau people are Chinese, we are also different (mostly in the fact we speak Cantonese). To be honest, most of us likes Japanese stuff, except for foreigners (weird right???).

I know people from different countries and foreigners are more likely to dislike Japan than we Chinese people lmfao. I have yet seen a non-Asian liking Manga, Anime or Japanese food here.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the Gundam statue built before I leave Macau for University, but god Britain and America is just not safe. Their fucking gun policies sickens me. The fact that every household has a gun for "self-defense" is just so not right. Rather than self-defense, it seems like people are using it for senseless killing.

  8. That's the US not britain. I own a gun because i enjoy target practice and also because the bad guys aren't gonna break into my home armed with knives and baseball bats.

    1. Well, I'm not gonna generalize everyone.

Just recently, it was on the news that 2 cops were killed in Britain I guess. Damn it, I forgot the place, but I think it was somewhere in Britain.

It's sad the government of the US does nothing about it. Although Obama sympathized with the citizens, it doesn't really do shit when nothing is done about it.

I wonder why they even need those guns in the US. I just hope it wouldn't be used for exterminating Asians in the future. Such liberty, so free that people can point guns at each other and claim it as self-defense. Oh well, I never liked the US anyway. The people there were kind of arrogant, though some were very nice.

    2. @Anon (Sept. 20, 12:23 AM):

Arrogance isn't uniquely American. But it is very human. I've heard and read accusations of arrogance in the other direction; from people that are citizens of whatever North American or European country (*shrug*) who see arrogance in the Chinese and Japanese (or some other country or people) and viewing it negatively while hypocritically liking something from said country's culture, or having such hostility and arrogance themselves.

Hopefully such behavior (no matter who it comes from) won't deteriorate to throwing projectiles (and worse) as well as words around, but--in reading the comments here--I guess I'm thinking too much about some of Gundam's various commentary of Humanity (especially Gym "Embrace your animal instinct!" Ghingnham's in TAG). *shrug* (Though TAG is a fun anime, in my view.)

But regardless of whether we agree on anything or agree to disagree, I'm personally sick of hostility and negativity. I feel politics anywhere (whether here in the U.S. or worldwide) contributes to it, so I gave up on it a long time ago.

Back to just Gunpla and gaming news for me... *shrug*

  9. Now... as long as it isn't built out of garbage with concrete poured over it like certain Chinese bridges...

    1. It won't happen like that.
Chinese people in Macau aren't cheapskates that would do that.
For your interest, they're building a man-made island. Sigh, all those casinos and garbage in Taipa are suffocating though. Some areas are like ghost town, seriously hope our Government would do something about those lands.
