@railgun: You know, I almost asked the same question. Then on Modelers-G, I saw "MG 1/100 ver. O.Y.W.". The ANA limited edition plated RX-78-2 kits were the 30th Anniversery HG 1/144 release. It's a completely different kit, so no rare shiny paintjob was destroyed.
@Anon1: Attractive looking paintjobs are nice and all, but I can't imagine why anyone would destroy the value of a limited edition kit when they can easily find the normal kit and do the same thing to it.
ok you take a hard to find chrome plated kit and them make it not chrome, why?
