Paying homage to the previous franchises. What they did was designing the Mobile Suits to look as similar as those existing ones. I give this idea a thumbs up. Am I the only one who noticed this was part of the purpose behind Gundam AGE? Or you haters are rejecting it lol.
I think I like Age-2 the best seeing at it has a mobile armor mode. Its the sword like thing on his left right? seems like the GN-sword IV full saber to me, but oh well, that's cool too. Age 2 really feels like a cross between Age-1, Zeta, and 00 Raiser. I love it. wonder what's its 2 alternative modes are? if this thing really is true then Gundam age kinda got a little better in my book, in terms of mecha design anyway.

and also.. for me, the designs of AGE-2 and AGE-3 looked like legit to me.. it somewhat shows the "Ebi.-ness" within these designs.. and yeah, im talking to the mech's designer, Kanetake Ebikawa the man behind thr designs of 00 leads, Arbalest/Laevatein and Vandread
They may use these designs though and improve them. I think this will be legit from what I have seen. There will be multiple Gundams and they have subtle homages to older Gundams.
Gundam Age is the throwback tribute to the original Gundam that I have been waiting for. Although I do enjoy the mass amounts of mobile battle metal scraps during the 1st episodes of 00 and seed/destiny, I can appreciate their focus on higher level character development. Clearly failures like Shinn Asuka and Setsuna showed their shallow "emo imma kill you." I have great hopes for Age, even though the start is a little slow.
On a better note, since I'm always worried how mindless romance will ruin any Gundam series, I'm glad Bandai gave us a big spoiler of who the mother is. I'm calling it right now, Emily Ammond is the mother, it should be pretty obvious, which means she is definitely not on the "I'm going to get killed" list. I'm really hoping she doesn't turn out like the previous female leads in all the 2000's Gundam Series. I'm not ready for another passive aggressive crying act put on by some pubescent little girl.

couldnt have said it better. I long for the ultimate character development that was excellently achieved by Tomino in Zeta Gundam with Kamille Bidan blessed with gifted genius writers and of course Mr Kill Em All. Is it any wonder Zeta is considered one of if not the best in the gundam metaseries?
So far, AGE is doing that. It's hooking me in not just with flashy colourful Naruto/Shonen esque battles and mind games/tactics, it is also showing the human side of war, much like Zeta did, although not quite up to Z's serious moody dark and ultimately accomplished tone. AGE is molding everything in between MSG up to 00/UC.
Anonymous above me, Randy Marsh says "Theeeeenks!" awsu, dud. which magazine is this from? do they show the AGE 3 as well? AGE 2 is looking like my fav already, a mix between AGE 1, Zeta, Delta Plus, 00 /ELS Qant, etc This could end up being my favourite suit designed by Kanetakawa Ebi.
Zeta Gundam? The best? Far from it. Zeta Gundam is way too overrated. If you want a nice Gundam, well written and more about the people than the machines, there's the 08th MS team.
0080 FTW. It's almost exclusively character-driven, and the few battles, while awesome, are basically just an afterthought or a vehicle that drives said character development.
Wow, lots of recent Gundam fanboys. Wing? SEED? 00? AGE? Kiddy crap with horrible MS designs. The enemies in AGE look like Evangelion knock-offs. I miss the UC timeline.
