Oh yes, I like my 1/144 Turn A, but I hated how outdated it is. This will do very, very well to replace the majestic Turn A in my collection. A shame the effect part is separated instead of like O Gundam.

ReplyDeleteThe chest silo is very good and the cockpit looks detachable. the only equipment it misses in the kit besides the Moonbeam butterfly effects are the Gundam Hammers. HG RX-78-2 30th and Forever Gundam will answer this problem ^_^

DeleteNot a big fan of Turn A and this maybe not one of the best looking Gundam but for me it's one of best HG ever made and the pilot can be seen too.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to give you some mad respect for making such a comment. You said you weren't a fan of the Mech or the series without hating on it and still gave praise to the engineering of this HG which I agree does look awesome. That's really mature of you rather than just hating the kit and the series altogether. If only we can have more comments like yours terms like haters and trolls wouldn't exist. Unfortunately that's not how the real world works I guess.

ReplyDeleteMy God that boxart looks amazing! Bandai has always had awesome boxart that usually either captures the aesthetic power of the MS or the Gundam series it hails from. This boxart definitely got both down in spades! Absolutely beautiful boxart. It almost doesn't even look like boxart but more like a promotional poster. Whoever was behind the boxart definitely knew what they were doing and really understands the show. The artist easily could have done a moonlight butterfly wings like boxart which I feel would have cheapened the feel of he show as that's not what it was about. I feel like they really got the integrity of the show right with this boxart as it's not some over the top special mode(i.e. The moon light butter fly) or cool action pose. I know I sound like weirdo just going on and on about the art and not the Gunpla itself but I love all things related to art. I'm an animation major and hope to do beautiful work just like this. The reason I fell in love with Gundam and anime by extension is because of my fascination with the amazing art and animation. Art and animation otaku I guess is what they would call me in Japan lol. In regards to the kit itself, breath taking as it looks like it leaped straight out of the anime and into reality. Extra points to Bandai for not cheaping out on the finer details as there doesn't seem to be too much of an over reliance on stickers or a deviation on the MS design to accommodate the plastic construction(i.e. wings/thruster pods of HGAC Wing Gundam Zero). It even seems to have the pilot molded into the kockpit which is clear yellow instead of a sticker. Which means this will be one of the first if not the first 1/144 HG kit that will have a pilot figure visible inside the cock pit. Definitely worthy of one of the final works from the father of Gundam although that's not entirely accurate anymore. Hopefully we see the same quality in Recoguista in G as we did in Turn A. Arigato Tomino sama for blessing us with your venture into Gundam again.

DeleteSorry about that lol. I'm an impulsive person so I just write whatever is on my mind and then click submit without really realizing how much is written let alone spelling and grammar. I'm one of those act before I think kinda people I guess lol. But I do agree I should probably work on getting my message across better as I've had others mention the same whether it's written or even verbally. DeleteFYI the hguc guntank has the pilot visible in the cockpit of the head. This isn't the first hg to do that.

DeleteAs far as the HG goes, I think the project GBF started (with new HGs of the main lead Gundams) is at least partly to blame. Also, look up when TAG first aired; you'll probably find an important date related to it coming up.
For Turn A, coz all gundam lead HG project. For Turn X.... I don't know. Maybe about Turn A's anniversary?

DeleteI think they are giving ALL of the series a little love to try and gauge the interest level of each series since the typical lead MS have been done to death in the MG line.
DeleteIt also doesn't hurt that the MG Turn A Gundam was one of their best designed MG kits from an engineering perspective. They nailed it perfectly on the first version unlike a lot of other kits like the RX-78-2, Zaku II, Zeta Gundam, Gelgoog, etc. which took 2 or more tries to be acceptable.
I've noticed that on some of the riskier designs, that don't have the guaranteed popularity of something like the RX-78-2 or the Strike Gundam, it seems like they put a lot more effort to get it right the first time because they know that they aren't likely to get a second shot at it. I could be completely wrong but that is how it appears to me.
The MG Acguy is another example of this phenomenon. The Acguy is definitely a love it or hate it design. Before getting some 08th MS team love it didn't have the popularity it has now. They completely nailed the MG kit to the point that I don't know how they could possibly make it better.
