Kinda reminds you of what Hasbro did to Transformers. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, the Transformers line was brimming with excellent ideas. Now, Hasbro has replaced their creative employees with turds who don't even have a shred of imagination and have resorted to recycling (i.e. repaints and remolding).
And now, Bandai is resorting to the worst idea possible with their latest series about jigsaw-pieced gunplas (THE HORROR).
C'mon! Where did all of Bandai's creativity and imagination go to from AGE onwards? Outside the window?!
For me 00 was still a really good series and perhaps a start of a new ideas (this was the FIRST gundam series ever to come in contact with alien lifeforms). Too bad Bandai didn't bother to think or explore of what possibilities they come up with.
Creativity is expensive, and can you see what happend with fans who see that creativity? They bash it i.e 00 movie yet they still whining about how copypasta other series, concept and design.

I would argue the lack of creativity and direction Hasbro took in the late 80's and early 90's is what led to that brand disappearing in the early nineties before G2 and Beast Wars. Also your comment about repaints and remolding is pretty ridiculous. That has been apart of the TF toy line since the beginning. All the G1 Decepticon Seeker jets, the Datsun cars, Inferno/Grapple, Trailbreaker/Hoist.. the list goes on. It is pretty silly to use it as a criticism of the current Hasbro crew.
I'm not trying to pick a fight. But have you ever stopped to think about why something we're not asking for gets shoved in our faces?
Think back. Each pre-Beast Wars Transformers catalogue was chockful of many choices. Almost each a different idea and repaints weren't by the dozens like now.
Why do I say lack of creativity? Then tell me, what happened to the Fusion Warriors? The Citybots? The Sixchangers?
How come Hasbro hasn't bothered making them again when they know many people are dying to get there hands on them again?
And its because of this 3rd party products started making a profit.
Why? They give what the fans want and what they've been waiting for ages that Hasbro deprives them of. Heck, some third party products even come out better than what Hasbro makes (only problem is the price tag).
Yes, Hasbro nosedived after the failure of the Action Masters line and only started recovering in the Beast Wars timeline (forgive me for the mistake in timing).
Why do I say running out of ideas? What got into Bandai's brain when it started to make a series about jigsaw-pieced gunplas. I mean, the idea of making it like something similar to Angelic Layer was a good start, but they could've come up with something more original in terms of the mech roster.
I think the only time Bandai released the largest no.of repaints/remolds was the seed vs. astray arc.
And here's a fact about Bandai that I think only a few know of. The MG version of the GP02 Physalis was never suppose to have been made. The only reason why Bandai made it was because of fan outcries. Bandai originally had no plans or intentions of making it. I've read that the company rarely listens to other people.
Creativity is not expensive. It is only hard to come by.
If people don't appreciate the past Gundam series, let's see how long they'll last with the jigsaw-pieced gunpla series.
Another guy here, I also think Bandai's playing it safe these days and 00's aliens could've made them more money but they didn't explore it much. TBH, I think ELS versions of some mechs would've sold GunPlas.
As for the mech roster for BF, I actually appreciate the slightly redesigned units though I'd also prefer that the main character's unit is original. If this new series is an attempt to pique kids' curiosity about older Gundam series, it just might work.
Of course, this is something I noticed with friends who are SRW players; whenever they encounter a mech from a show that they haven't watched, they tend to eventually watch said show.
Anyone in the world is capable in being stupid and this one idiot from Lithuania making a retarded comment if how sunrise suck for releasing BF even tho Origin is coming

DeleteBANDAI HAS FINALLY ADMITTED THAT THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF GOOD IDEAS AFTER AGE WENT DOWNHILL AND HAS NOW DECIDED TO OVEREXPLOIT THE ASTRAY SIDESTORY.
ReplyDeleteBut to be honest, astray seems to be the most successful of all the gundam sidestories so far. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
you wont be seeing anymore of this garbage once the hd remasters are over
