    4. You guys need to realise something. "Ver.Ka" could have been applied to MANY other MGs in the past. Its effectively a Ver.Ka since its a katoki ilustration and he is one of the lead designers in the gunpla business now. He only adds Ver.Ka for kits that he puts more time into than others.

      Delete
    5. Ver.KA means that he's not only designed the kit but also directly involved in the project for each kit.

All Ver Ka line kits are his designs but not all Katoki design are Ver Ka line.

    6. Sorry to burst your bubble dude, but that's not quite the TV version. It's an EW suit that looks similar to the TV version but there are definite differences. Just look at the wings in the colored illustrations. I mean there's a reason why they're giving it a new name; "Proto."

    7. You guys need to do some homework before commenting. IT IS NOT TV VER. It is the manga EW version. The FULL NAME OF THIS SUIT IS GUNDAM WING PROTO ZERO. Yes it is designed by Katoki but it is not in the Ver KA MG line.ALL the MG unicorn suit are designed by Katoki so it is all Ver Ka kit? Obviously No.

      Delete
    8. But the MG ReZELs and MG Jesta are not Ver.Ka kits.
What series the designs are from means nothing for the Ver.Ka line, they are chosen on Katoki's personal preference.

    9. I agree with ヒロ. No. THATS THE TRUTH.

    10. aww crap.
there again Katoki MESS up with Wing series.

why can't they release MG Wing Zero TV plain & simple ?
without that UGLY Katoki 'touch' ?
don't get me wrong, some of his EW design are good, but others are worse than original (okawara).

my point is, If Katoki want to release his own experimental design 'touch', he should test & release with HG/RD/RG version first, and listen to market feedback. if deemed popular, then goes to MG.

      -

      Listen, Katoki.
What fans like and recognize well, is Wing Zero TV ver.
Not your ugly 'touch' which is unknown, & unproven market-wise.

    11. MG Wing Gundam Proto Zero EEEWWW!!!

      Not excited about it

      PASS

Unless Bandai will make this the definitive design & completely throw away the TV version, what I mean is that this will be the one that we can see on video games or other types of media or promotions from now onwards.

Don't get me wrong, I very much like Wing Zero Custom which is designed by Katoki but not this unnecessary redesign.

    12. This is a Ver Ka. for people not in the know the Wing gundam ver EW is a rebranded version of the Wing ver ka with less Decals. I might pick this kit up sometime.

    13. In reply to: "Anonymous June 25, 2013 at 3:41" . Hajime katoki is a revered mecha designer who made his career off his talents at making real world proportions to mecha robot designs. The fact that he has his own line in MG is a testament to that fact. There is no need for market feed back from a ver ka design. If you want to sell well want an respectable mecha design you go to katoki. Just because you don't like his designs doesn't mean you have to spew nonsense about unproven market-wise. The fact that katoki is involved in some way guarantees good market interest. I'm not sure why you seem to think you represent fans in making the statement "What fans like and recognize well, is Wing Zero TV ver. Not your ugly 'touch' which is unknown, & unproven market-wise". Many fans in Japan are much more approving of Katoki designs rather than old 90s disproportioned designs(no offence to Okawara I respect him greatly). Bandai isn't going to care for a miniscule percentage for Wing fans form Noth America who rather prefer the old 90s design.

It looks like the TV Ver but up close, it looks kinda different

    1. I think it's a retcon design to make the Wing TV designs canon as the "Prototype" versions of the EW suits. There's alot of discussion over what designs are canon, so I guess this is a good way to incorporate both.

      Delete
    2. Agreed sir. Thats a pretty good way of putting it

      Delete
    3. This is the only exception, otherwise the statement the first anonymous posted isn't really worded right since none of the other Gundams have used hybrids of their TV forms and Ver ka. designs as "prototypes". Incomplete Shenlong was still shown as the Ver Ka. without the Dragon fang and Deathsycthe in chapter 1 of Vol 1. was still Deathsycthe in Ver ka. as well.

      Delete
    4. Its called proto zero because Wing zero is the direct prototype to ALL the gundams in the series.
Do you not remember the doctors talking about the "blueprints to that old thing"?

This is effectively the TV version, but it most likely will appear in the Glory of the Losers manga as just blueprints and the Wing Zero Custom is what was built instead.

Its complicated at the moment but we will find out where it belongs when we get a better look.

      Delete
    5. Yeah ...
well, I'll probably skip out on this one and wait for the actual TV Ver. I'm pretty sure the Proto-Zero is released first similar to how they did the Sinanju Stein and then the OVA. The Stein would not sell well if it was released after the OVA Sinanju. Still, the announcement of the Proto Zero means Bandai is developing a frame for the Zero and that frame will probably be used for the actual TV Zero(Which we all know is coming)

      Delete
    6. Your logic is dumb. When it comes to AU kits Bandai is all about recycle and re use. They will not design a new frame solely for 1 AU kit when they can use the frame off this Proto Zero as they both would need the same basic frame work to transform. Look at the EW versions of the Wing kits, MG Wing Gundam's frame has been used in Deathscythe and Hell Custom, Shenlong, Heavyarms, Sandrock, and Epyon while the Tallgeese got its own frame because it was not a Gundam and the Wing ver Ka and Wing Zero Custom were before the Wing Gundam.

Even using your own example, the Sinanju Stein and Sinanju are almost identical frame wise with the aesthetics being different.

Since the Proto Zero is going have similar proportions to the already released Wing Kits, the Wing Gundam frame will most likely be used and modified to accommodate the knee for transformation. If they release a full blown Wing Zero, and it will not be Okiwara proportions don't even kid yourself and look at MG Wing Gundam again, it'll be the same frame with changed armor panels from the Proto Zero.

      Delete
    7. Your logic is also dumb. They will absolutely design a frame that only works for one suit. Just look at the Epyon.

      Delete
    8. @The First Anoy who posted
      Reread my post ...
I'm saying because they're designing a frame for Proto Zero that they'll release a real TV Zero because of the similar frame...

      Delete
  8. It's not a Ver.Ka , but what you must remember is that Katoki is still in charge of these Endless Waltz designs as far as I know , so the over-all design is going to be modified to a degree. Proto-Zero is easier to say than "Wing zero TV ver" So that is probably why they went with that. I for one like the design, Wing tv was my second favorite to epyon, glad to see it looking a bit sharper and up-to date.

    1. If anything, in the manga, this'll just be seen on blueprints. Since they're touting it as a prototype then either A.Quatre finds the blueprints, build Proto-Zero then give it the Wings once Heero gets it or B.Quatre finds the blueprints, we get a panel or two on it and he'll build the "better version" of the Proto-Zero aka "angel" Wing Zero.

      Delete
    2. Yep. I'm leaning towards AznGaara's theory.

      Delete
    3. I'm guessing that's what's gonna happen as well.
that way they don't have to make another transition suit between proto zero and wing zero.

      Delete
    4. I'm supporting the A theory, since "Proto Zero" maybe be the version of zero that was used first by Quatre until it eventually get to zechs and after the interchange of MS between him and Heero. Remember that Heero had some time with Zero on Earth, there he could change it to the more complete Wing zero. Also he could have made the changes (Heero) during the white fang conflict aboard the Peace Million (angel wings) and eventually be the permanent look of Zero until its destruction and know obvious rebuilt as snow white. Yep I'm a fanboy and not proud about it :)

    5. In reply to: "AznGaara June 24, 2013 at 8:29 AM". I certainly agree with your speculations as to how this design will be incorporated into canon through the manga. Both points seem very logical and are even further supported by the fact that the manga(New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz: The Glory of Losers) even hinted at this suit in one of their earlier issues.(i.e. http://gundam-eclipse.net/single/?p=594151&t=5005015). ON a completely unrelated note AznGaara don't use word such as "touting" as it makes you sound obnoxious as well as being disrespectful towards Bandai, of which you purchase alot of their products. Bandai has finally answered(albeit not intentionally towards us) the prayers of Gundam Wing fans in North America. I for one am ecstatic beyond belief and look forward to more advertising of this MG as we get closer to it's release date.

    1. Its simple twist for the leg to transform

      Delete
    2. I meant detail wise. I haven't seen the anime in a long time so I forgot, but I know from the 1/100 HG model the foot twists and hides inside the leg armor. Doing so doesn't leave much room for detail, so I'm curious to see what they do with the leg. Not an issue since I'll display mine in mobile suit mode. I just like seeing what idea Bandai comes up with in situations like that.

    ReplyDelete

    1. And yet Wing Zero Ver Ka./EW/Custom is on Epyon's box. So no it wasn't designed to match the already released Epyon.

    2. Wing ver ka. Everyone adds zero to that kit ans its not.

      Delete
    3. @Anonymous June 24, 2013 at 12:04 PM: No, it actually is Wing Zero Custom on Epyon's Box, not the Wing Ver. Ka-(http://www.gundamplanet.com/media/catalog/box-art/mg-gundam-epyon-package-box-art.jpg)- and he's really not talking about it. I'm pretty sure what he meant with that is Mr. Katoki designed Wing Zero Custom, hence it's still Wing Zero 'Ver. Ka.' in a sense-- IN A SENSE. Besides, he said it completely as 'Wing Zero Ver Ka./EW/Custom'.

      Delete
  32. The wings on this Proto Zero aren't finalized- look at how sketchy the lines are VS the rest of the lineart- it's just like when we first saw Epyon, the wing design was different when we finally got the proto.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Do you not see the completed CAD image on the left hand side?

      Delete
    2. The same happened with Epyon- they showed a wing design in CAD, and it was completely different on the model.

The CAD wings do not carry the same amount of detail that is inherit throughout the rest of the design, so I'd wager they're still working them out.

If it is the final design, eh, I kinda do not like the curve on the back of the wings. But whatever.

      Delete
  33. I think this is the suit use as a prototype, hence the "proto" in its name, for the angelic wing zero in GOL.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, its the Wing zero from the TV show. Wing Zero was always the prototype for the other gundams, it was the first one ever designed by the 5 scientists.

      Delete
    2. yup. they basically made the plans for this first, but deemed it too dangerous and never build it.
they built the 5 gundams based on this one first.

then Quatre found the blueprints and the proto zero finally gets built

      Delete
  34. They gotta finish releasing the other endless waltz suits!

    ReplyDelete
  35. At this point, I'm gonna wait until better images arise so we can really determine how this differs from the TV Wing Gundam 0, as I'm sure it does.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It looks like there are some minor changes to bring it more in line with the EW version; most obvious (at least to me) are the shoulder and chest armor, as well as the proportions of the legs.

That said, it's still like 90-95% the same as the Okawara version.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So, this is the EW/Ka version of the TV version Wing Zero...

    1. I'd love HGAW, but we don't even have the Wing EW or Wing Zero Custom in HGAW

      Delete
    2. You mean if ever there'd be a reboot of Wing/Wing Endless waltz HG line, it would probably be labelled HGAC (High Grade After Colony). HGAW (High Grade After War) is Gundam X stuff, you know.

      Delete
  43. Well, it's called "Proto" Zero, so this is most likely the design the five doctors worked on together before each took a copy of the blueprint to design their own Gundam (Wing, Deathscythe, Heavyarms, Sandrock, Shenlong).

The Wing Zero made by Quatre in the show is supposedly the one seen here, but from what I heard, Heero chose the angel wing motif in the manga. Overrated as a lot of people say it is, I personally like the design.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I really don't understand the fandom... They give us Seed MGs that are totally redesigned from their TV versions, "OMG, Aegis looks awesome, much better then TV version!!!!", they give us a redesigned, up to date Wing Zero TV and it's like "OMG, THAT IS NOT TV WING ZERO, RUIN AND DESTRUCTION, FIRE AND DAMNATION!!!!!"

I, for one, do not care at all for Wing TV gundam designs, but I'm liking what I see here, so that can only be good for me...

    ReplyDelete
  45. I still don't understand why we can't just have the TV series designs instead of these weird-ass manga ones, but whatever, it's still awesome.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not manga, it's katoki's re designed version of the TV wing zero for the MG proportion, he does this for all master grades (even those who are not Ver. Ka.)

      Delete
    2. Correction. There are MGs that are made from designs originally made by katoki, like Ex-S, the whole Wing EW line, et al, and there are some designs which he redesigns into his own interpretation, and these become ver Ka, like the Nu ver Ka. This is not a rule, though, since you have Wing ver Ka, which is an original katoki design, and you have wing zero custom, which is not ver Ka, but is also a Katoki design. And you also have kits that have ver Ka and not ver Ka versions, like the unicorn, despite being essencially the same kit. This is a ll a bit random, but usually a ver Ka is a MG that has been designed by katoki and he has given it special attention, with the very famous katoki style markings, special box art and manual.

It's all a bit confusing, I guess, but one thing is certain, katoki does not redesign every MG ^^

I still don't understand why ppl are ok with the aegis being redesigned form the TV version, without going around calling it a "manga version" or whatever, but cannot accept a more modern redesign of the old Wing TV designs. Want the old bulky ones? get the 1/100 HG kits ^^

      Delete
    3. I knew that already but Katoki does redesign the suits just for the MG line, not an original design or a Ver Ka. redesign, but rather just for the proportions. An example of this is the original RX-78-2 MG released in 1995, he made that design just for the MG, but then later he redesigned the suit completely and called it Ver Ka. just so we know that that was HIS version of the RX-78-2.

      Delete
    4. TBH, The only one I do not like is EW Shenlong, Nataku had giant dragon attachments but EW Shenlong has an even larger dragon head.

    5. i think this IS the manga version... i remember seeing a "glimpse" of Wing Zero in teh manga, it's the page where the foreground is Wing & Tallgeese, and there's Zero in the background. and that "Zero" is the one with those binders.. not the EW OVA/Movie version.

      Delete
    6. @anon 5:37 Not all MGs. The original strike, for instance, was designed by BEECRAFT. Though he does design a lot of MGs most of s aren't aware of

      Delete
    7. Isn't this version from The Glory of Losers, just like all the other MG Wing models from the past few years? I think it can safely be called the "manga" version, because calling it some nonsense like "Ver. EW" is inaccurate and unnecessarily confusing...

    1. nope, Quatre took the blueprint (maybe that is this MG) and made Wing Zero. after that, between the TV series and EW movie, Heero Yui redesigned Wing Zero to an angelic-Zero, hence the name Wing Zero custom. In the manga, after this work of Heero, the other 4 guys all gang up on him, asking if Heero was trying to use this new Zero to fight again. And ,much to their suprise and frustration, Heero simply said he redesigned because he liked it, nothing else

  49. I guess this is the prototype of the feathered Wing Zero of EW.

Wonder how it fits into the story?
    Flashbacks?
Or is this a separate MS?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. From what I recall, the "Proto" Zero is the design of Wing Zero when the five scientists planned it after designing the Tallgeese.

The Wing Zero we see and know was Quatre replicating the design, but from what I recall, when it was being modified for space, Heero had it modified to have the feathers and angel wings.

I don't recall exactly where I saw it, but I believe it's in the Endless Waltz manga.

  50. Bandai has succeeded once again in its delaying tactics. When it showed Snow White in the 8th volume cover of Frozen Teardrop, it shoves the original Wing Zero in MG form in hopes of practically diverting our attention...

  52. Even if this isn't the actual wing zero from the television series, it's as close at it will get. Great News!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anyone remember when Bandai announced a big Wing thing going on this year?? This is probably it. We will finally get to see the new designs in Glory of the Losers for the 5 wing suits. This is obviously the first one that will put everyone's panties in a bunch (which it has already from reading all the comments).

I will own it, as well as the TV version if that ever comes out. I am really starting to believe that maybe we will never see the TV versions, and that these new redesigns are what will be the official designs of the suits now.

I remember GW coming out and blowing my mind, then the UC series turning me into a Gundam fan. Seeing this Proto Zero makes me a little nostalgic, but at the same time I am a little disappointed.

    3. The way I remember it was that Katoki redesigned the five original Gundams for some magazine and they decided to use them in the Endless Waltz movie with a few changes. That's why body-wise they all resemble the original five more than the upgraded television designs, particularly the Deathscythe Hell and Altron.

  62. For me, In my theory, if ever the manga "Gundam Wing: Episode Zero" is a canon for gundam wing tv series. This will fit because in that manga. After the war, Heero refitted wing zero tv version to wing gundam zero custom. Maybe they will re-tell and include that manga at the end of the current manga endless waltz: glory to the losers and change the design of the original wingzero tv version to this one.. But of course, if that manga is really a canon. Im not sure though. (Gundam wing: Glory of the losers>> Gundam wing: Episode zero>> Gundam wing: Battle of the pacifist>> Gundam wing>> Endless Waltz) ^_^

    2. It would make more sense that he rebuilds Wing into a new Wing Zero, since Katoki's Wing and Wing Zero Custom are nearly indentical. Wing Zero Custom is basically Wing Gundam with angel-wings and the Twin-Buster rifle. This Proto Zero has quite a few mechanical and cosmetic differences.

  68. Alright, I've come to the decision that this is in fact NOT the Wing Gundam 0 from the show. If anything, it's a completely different entity from both the anime and OVA renditions. Calling this the TV version would be like saying Gundam Astrea is Gundam Exia or 0 Gundam is RX-78.

Also at this point, I think we should consider ”Endless Waltz” a separate universe from ”After Colony” in the Gundam metaseries.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Glory of Losers Manga is essentially the TV series with all the extra manga contents tacked on and the designs from Katoki instead of Okawara's. Given that the manga is being written by the same guy who mostly wrote Wing's story, it's obviously intended to present a completed picture of Wing along with the later retcons made canon.
It's obviously the same universe and the writer clearly intends it to supersede the anime series which had content cut from due to budget and pacing issues.
Regardless, this is obviously as close as to the Wing Zero Bandai is willing to go, much like the only Epyon MG kit released was the updated one from the manga. There isn't going to be a Wing Zero TV version but this clearly intends to fulfill that role and proportions aside it does a really good job of being that. People that don't like it, well, you're unreleasable and this is still all you're getting. If you're unhappy, there's always the RD figures.
By the way, that Astrea comment is dumb as shit. The Astrea is the prototype for the Exia and an entirely different suit while obviously the proto Zero is intended to be the Wing Zero from the series but in a different context and with different proportions. You could have used a comparison between the different RX-78-2 MG kits instead, which is far more accurate since they're different interpretations of the same basic design.

      Delete
    2. If Wing Gundam 0 from the series is meant to be analogous to Wing Gundam Zero Custom from Endless Waltz as it always has, and this Proto Zero is meant to come before them as has been stated, then yes, I believe that Astrea remark still stands.

      Delete
    3. It really doesn't. Because even if this proto zero still doesn't exist in this new retelling and was intended to be retconned it doesn't change the fact that this is still the exact same design as the Wing Zero from the anime except with a new context. The comparison would be apt if for some reason the Astrea was retconned into being Setsuna's S1 Gundam. Even if the proportions are different and it has a different name, this is still intended to be both the proto Zero and the anime Zero.

      Delete
    4. That also doesn't leave out the posiblity of a "Proto Zero" existing in the universe of the series with the exact same appearance as Wing Gundam 0. After all, Heavyarms' and Sandrock's "upgrades" designates them as different machines from their previous form, on the same vein as the other two Gundams that had extensive changes, even thought we all know that they look practically the same.

    5. The Anonymous commentor @ June 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM clearly knows what they are talking about. Whereas the commentor arguing with them is delusional and is fighting a losing battle with a clearly intellectually superior opponent. An excerpt from the dumbass's comment: "That also doesn't leave out the posiblity of a "Proto Zero" existing in the universe of the series with the exact same appearance as Wing Gundam 0". What they hell are you talking about!? Anonymous @ 2:00 PM had already explained that it's the same damn universe but just more expanded with a different look in terms of the manga. Whatever happens in the manga that slights deviates from the anime storyline would still be considered canon since it's the same writer. That's the advantage of a manga you're not restricted by budget constraints or creative differences. As for this new MG, IT IS the WING GUNDAM ZERO! from the ANIME series. It's just redesigned visually to make it look more streamlined similar to what they did to the Seed MGs. The only reason for the confusion is that the designer who updated the design is Katoki who is known his EW designs. Who ever did the redesign for the Seed kits is a lesser known artist. Since Katoki redesigned Wing suits in the past it would only make sense for Bandai to approach him in streamlining the old 90s design of Okawara. The Wing Gundam Ver Ka/EW and the Wing Gundam Zero Custom/Ver Ka/EW are Katoki's redesigned interpretations of those suits. The Wing Gundam Proto Zero is just a more updated look to the old Wing zero design and since it was katoki of course it will look Endless Waltz-like in design. Due to this this proto zero can be placed in the manga canon as the design of the suit on the original blueprints but when it is actually built it was slightly modified to to angel winged zero we a familiar with. The "proto" is given to the name as an ingenious way to differentiate this MG release from the others as well as canonically place the suit in the Manga version the the prototype wing zero that was used to design the rest of the five gundam and eventually the wing zero itself. Bandai could have easily placed the name "remaster" or something to that affect to differentiate the existing MG Wing Gundam Zero EW but buy adding proto in it's name as well it has value to the manga.

    1. I agree. This is clearly the TV version. This is exactly like the MG Epyon. It's the Wing Zero from the series but with aesthetics done by Katoki. Just like MG Epyon, it looks just like the original version at first glance, but when you get up close, you notice the differences in design. Personally, I'm going to ignore any relationship to the EW Glory of the Losers manga, and just view this as a Wing Zero with an updated, stylized look, just like Epyon and the Seed remaster kits. It's that simple. Or here's another idea; ignore the "Ew" and the "Proto" in the name and just imagine that it really says "Wing Gundam Zero Ver.Ka". People, make up your own head-canon. Again, it's that easy.

      Delete
    2. Trying to decide Gundam Wing mobile suit canon is pointless. If you're to believe what you're shown in Endless Waltz, the Gundams always looked as they did in the movie even before Operation Meteor. In Frozen Teardrop it shows EW Nataku with the TV Altron's wings and back mounted beam cannon. I believe MG of the remaining three EW Gundams are inevitable and we might see those changes on Nataku. The TV versions hold a significant place in my heart, but the clean, slender designs that Katoki comes up with are attractive. Trying to convince other people what is and isn't canon in Wing is when the headaches start, since there truly isn't one definitive answer. I think that's one of my favorite things about this series; Gundam Wing canon is largely dependent on the individual, so you can have your cake and eat it too. But you'll probably be eating it alone.

      Delete
    3. I'm not talking about figuring out the "correct" in-story canon. Again, I'm talking about taking this design and not relating it to the damn manga. By head-canon, I was simply referring to seeing this MG as an update to the original design from the anime, which it is, just like the SEED master grades. Yes, the original designs hold a lot of nostalgia value for me as well. But once again, all I'm saying is that people who are debating the screen-accuracy of this model and what relation it holds to "Glory of Losers", shouldn't an issue. Just take the model for what it is, a piece of plastic, and give it your own meaning. Sure it's not 100% TV accurate, but it sure comes close, and it'll probably be the closest that bandai will ever give us. It's about taking what seems to be a bad situation and seeing the good in it. And it's definitely not a reason for you to get all pseudo-poetic on me and say that I'll be alone on my perspective, because from what I see, a lot of people who also grew up watching Wing on Toonami, have also gotten over something which really isn't a big deal to begin with. Like you said so yourself, the canon depend on the individual, and my personal canon is to separate the toy and the role it plays in the re-told story and see it as tuned-up, modernized look of the TV version of the Wing Zero that I grew up loving, which is what a few MGs are. Most Mgs are slightly different from their original animated counterparts, some more that others, and this Wing Zero just happens to be one of the more stylized ones. But it's clearly still the one from the anime, no the OVA.

      Delete
    4. You weren't the target of that specifically. It was more targeted at people in general being alone in the views. While some overlap with others can be found, very rarely will your views or beliefs be 100% compatible with other people. When there are so many views that can all be considered valid, there is no one truth. Yours is that it's simply a stylized-TV Wing Zero MG, while others want it to fit into the manga. There's nothing wrong with either of those views. The manga did show a back image of Zero with the standard wing verniers, so there's an axiom for that argument. Just like you, I don't get too deep on the underlying reasoning. Giant robots aren't something to take too seriously.

      Delete
    5. That's exactly my point. A lot of people are getting worked up over something that in the grand scheme of things, isn't really worth all the fuss that being made, all for the sake of show-accuracy and nostalgia value. I simply made this argument in the hopes that maybe some people on here will stop obsessing over aesthetic choices made by Bandai and just accept this for what it really is, a collectors piece. And a really good looking one, at least in my opinion. Plus, it really looks like it'll look great standing next to MG Epyon. I know that's my reason for why I'll be getting it:)

      Delete
  70. I honestly don't see what all the confusion is about, it looks like the Wing Zero to me but updated to a more modern look. If anyone owns a PG Strike Freedom Gundam then you'll see katoki redesigned the proportions and added little details like more inner mechanical detail exposure in the lower legs, shoulder armour and wings(see here: http://www.dalong.net/review/pg/p13/p/p13_im0004.JPG and http://www.dalong.net/review/pg/p13/p/p13_im0005.JPG). You can clearly see the Katoki influence when you look at the line art in the instruction manual of the PG Strike Freedom. It made the PG all the more steam lined and I see the same treatment here . If you ignore the "proto" in it's name like what "Anonymous June 25, 2013 at 8:20 PM" said it's basically the Wing Zero with a more stream lined look similar to the remastered Seed MG kits. In this case the designer streamlining the kit happens to be Katoki a very well known mecha designer rather than a lesser known artist like whoever did the remaster designs for the Seed MG kits. It would make sense for Bandai to approach Katoki to streamline the Wing Zero since he is familiar with the wing kits already.

On topic, for me this MG is not Wing Zero TV I know.
Too many redesign, not faithful to original Okawara design.

I don't mind with redesign tho, as long as it's not straying too much from original. Sleeker redesign, adding more details, lining, minor recolor, etc, those are ok.

But this one differ too much.
    No buy for me.

Will wait for next faithful Wing MG release.

  73. As far as which Gundams are canon or not goes it doesn't really matter. The reason why I say that is, the EW designs and the TV versions are actually supposed to be one in the same. The EW versions just see to have extras that the original designs didn't have due to budget and pacing issues. Though Glory of the Defeated is actually intended to be part of Frozen Teardrop, so in this instance Glory of the Defeated is actually alternate univese, but the two different designs are still the same Gundams. I have had this conversation before, but at the time I was arguing that they were completely different. I realize that they are the same Gundams now though. Also Gundam Wing TV versions being released as Robot Damashiis, it seems highly unlikely that we will get any more TV Ver. Master Grades. Though if they do happen, don't be surprised if they are online exclusives or something like that. I mean I have my own RD TV Zero, and I'm really happy with it, because it looks just like it did in the anime (especially since I constantly have the secondary torso piece on it). I for one am impressed with how much attention Gundam Wing is getting compared to everything else in that line. Again as I said due to the Robot Damashii releases don't expect to see a Master Grade of any of the TV versions anytime soon. They might be feeling that they won't sell as MGs, so they are releasing them as Robot Damashii instead.

  74. I don't know about you, but something bothers me about how they decided to approach announcing this model by branding it "Endless Waltz", as if to say Okawara's rendition wasn't good enough or was was unworthy unless they made a bunch of aesthetic changes to it, changed its name and shoehorning it into Endless Waltz.

    1. I don't think it has to do with Bandai thinking it was unworthy. It's just done for the sake of promoting the damn manga. What I do agree with you on is that it it does seem out of place, seeing that it IS the T.V. version, but with an updated look. Seems like they were trying to combine both the manga promotion, along with the TV version to sort of calm down people, but then again, who am I to know what Bandai are thinking. All I know is that this looks like it was made to stand next to MG Epyon, since that model is also the TV version with an updated appearance, rather than an extreme redesign like the other five EW gundams from the OVA, which almost look like completely different entities from their TV counterparts, rather than just redesigns. At least that's how I see it.

  75. @SomeOtherAnon people wanted a TV Ver. Wing Zero MG that was modernized in the same way that the TV Ver. Wing Gundam MG was, but instead they get this. Those people who asked for a TV Ver. Wing Zero MG for three years didn't want this. Also I'm not too big of a fan of this redesign to be honest. Then again that is why I am glad that we have the Robot Damashii line. If not for that I don't think we'd have anything that resembles the TV versions in anyway for Gundam Wing. Also those old HGs are just terrible. The HG 1/100 Wing Zero can't hold its TBR even when it is separated into two buster rifles. Also what I would have preferred to happen is that we get a TV ver. Wing Zero and an updated Wing Zero EW MG, but it looks like Katoki doesn't want to admit that his old kits were pretty bad.

I will say though, this model will most likely look a lot better once we see the actual model. Also with my previous posts, I should have said at least we are getting something that at least resembles the TV Zero in MG form. Also Bandai and Katoki both have reasons for doing this.
      1. They don't want to make a TV Epyon, because it will just turn out too bulky.
      2. This design helps promote Glory of the Defeated, and what better way to promote it than this.
      3. The Robot Damashii line has the TV Zero and TV Epyon, and that is the only feasible way that we will get a really good looking TV Epyon at this point in time if not ever.
Also due to the RD line we most likely won't see any MGs based on the TV versions at all, so at least there is the RD line for those who just want a pure TV version of the Gundams from Gundam Wing. I'm not gonna lie though, I do like this design for the most part, but that is why I will wait to see what it looks like on display. Also the more I look at this design the more it sorta grows on me. Btw I wasn't trying to complain about this design myself earlier or anything like that.

  80. Personally I'm hyped for this MG, since it gives me the design of the Wing Zero TV but with a Katoki bent. However, for those who want the original Okawara Wing Zero design, they did already announce the existence of the HG After Colony (HGAC) line starting with the HG Wing Gundam, which is faithful to the TV version. You can bet they'll do an HG Wing Zero after that.

  81. The way I look at it, the Proto Zero is actually the "TV Version retouched by Katoki"... In a sense, it is the Katoki Version of the TV Version. It's just that they cannot use the "Ver.Ka" insignia because it would mean the EW Version. In other words, the original TV Version is "Ver.Okawara", and the MG of TV Version is "Ver.Katoki".

Are they going to release a EW Version Okawara? I also don't think so...

And I guess they wont be releasing the TV Version Okawara, because they already have the TV Version Katoki, dubbed as Proto Zero...
