  1. Jesta Chief, exactly my first impression after seeing the style of the Jesta Cannon's head :D

  2. Those Red and Blue-and-Green versions look like they belong to a certain game.

I'm planning to paint my Jesta Cannon red, though without gray parts. Since it looks quite nice in that color scheme, I think I'll continue with my plans

  3. i REALLY like the 1st one
really like the dudes idea giving it the Mudrock Gundam color

  4. ok just because i didn't think someone would do this, but my vote goes to the guy who did a guncannon color scheme on the jesta. Love all of the submission's very nice and very creative from the people who submitted them. and that goes for the other voting poles (stein and age-1) as well. :)

  5. I hope my white Dingo Jesta gets somewhere! C:

  7. Dom/Tri-star, Guncannon, Unit 6 Mudrock, Patlabor, Duel, Buster, Gespent Mk-II G. I love the references here.

I know I've seen that colors of the Yellow and Blue custom somewhere but I can't put my finger on it.

    2. Thanks XD I got the inspiration from a certain Nike basketball shoe colorway which was sort of close to the ECOAS theme XD. Your work is also has a nice out of the box approach scheme XD

    1. And one of them was caught cheating by ripping off and altering others design entries.

    2. So what happened to the caught entry? was it rejected?

    3. Hi, I'm Levi, and the one made by Aivi is my girlfriend. She wanted to enter too so she used mine as template and changed the color. And since I vectored mine, it is easier for her to just change the color. Well, to be honest, that worries me that some might think I'm cheating. -_-

      Sorry...

    4. Now I feel so embarrass that I let my girlfriend reused mine. Am really sorry about that. I'm not trying to cheat. :(

  12. This really is a unfair contest. How can people have a equal chance of winning when people are coping eachother with a slight change here and there. Also what chance does the guys that used the paint program have od winning first compared to the poeple using programs like photoshop or adobe design program. This really should have had two catagories.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah, and they also copy each other too, now I can see why there are 2 similar entries with similar names like "Kyousakee"...

      Delete
    2. They should've kept the entries private and reveal them to the public after the deadline. That way the contest would revolve more around creativity than biting ideas from other entries that came before theirs...

      Delete
    3. Uhhhh.. I think GG double posted my entry by accident there X_X

      Delete
    4. I agree that GG should have keep the entries private and only reveal them to public at the end of the contest deadline to prevent others from copying and plagiarizing other works.

And some of the entries here like WhiteFeather's SNOW JESTA is an easy prey to get plagiarized by lazy bums who are too lazy to paint on their own. Sheesh...

      Delete
    5. That's the point exactly. Biting off aspects from previous entries.
Defeats the whole contest of originality and creativity. This is why the entries should've been kept private until the deadline. It'd make this more of a contest rather than an "I'll take your ideas and one up it" type of ordeal.

      Delete
  13. I think its all fair game for everyone even when people have programs such as Photoshop. It will help the not so good people to learn and improve their artistic skill. I too started out with crappy paint programs and I was really suck, then the more I see other people doing awesome arts with photoshops and such. That makes me want to get photoshop and try harder to get to their level. It's like getting a free lesson by doing these kind of stuff for the less experience people. Just don't give up, but learn from other people, see how they use lighting, shading, etc...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You totally missed the point. It's unfair because of the 2 different skill levels. There are obviously beginners trying too compete against people who have more experience and skills. 99% of people hosting contest has at least two categories for different skill levels.

      Delete
    2. if they had 2 categories I still believe some shit looking work will be submitted to the advance catagory. What are they suppose to say then? "Oh your work is a piece of shit, so you belong to the shit catagory." LMAO

      Delete
    3. well its just my own opinion, having one categories forces the beginners to up their game if they want to compete. Competitive is a good thing, make people work 110%. But I can see what you mean if they have 2 categories for different skill levels so the beginner people have a chance in winning something and they can learn by looking at the advance level. Its all good.

      Delete
  14. I see how some folks used photoshop / equivalent to submit theirs and pardon me for saying this, they look mediocre. Not sure how they would draw the line as to which is advanced and which is novice.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So to what point do you guys consider copying other people's work? Say, If someone put a light unit or number decal on the feet or shoulder, therefor that idea belong to that person, and if someone decided to place the light unit or number on the same spot, would that consider copying? I think ideas such as adding lights, venting system, camouflage, panel lining, colors, are kinda universal, anyone could thought of those.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. because of the fact that we are all simply basing our designs from 1 master template. Having been provided a lineart to enhance. a lot of people will possibly think that the best place to put an element would be on the same spot. like the shoulders.. a whole lot of people will definitely want to put EFSF AEUG ZEON etc and numbers on the shoulders. additional panel lines as well since the scope of modifications are very limited to the actual line art itself. let's say person A puts a separate panel line on the vent legs because it's the best for that unit, definitely a person B,C,D and so on can possibly share the same Idea and taste.

If people would really want to scrutinize whether a piece is original or not, they should be debating on an actual MECHA DESIGN contest and not to a mere color/detail scheme design contest where the robot itself, the details and everything on the canvas is 100% thought out by the artist and that they are not limited to Jesta's Gransa's nor Stein's basic Lineart.

      Delete
    2. "let's say person A puts a separate panel line on the vent legs because it's the best for that unit, definitely a person B,C,D and so on can possibly share the same Idea and taste."

But does that mean person B,C,D and so on thought of the idea on their own, or is it because they saw person A's entry and decided to apply the idea before submitting their entries?

      Delete
    3. Not exactly because... to begin with, every design here basically sought inspiration from the actual kits with all those alternate illustrations,PG, MG, RG, HG NG AG. To sum it all up, we're all just copying from Katoki Hajime, Kanetake Ebikawa, Kunio Okawara, Takayuki Yanase and every published designer out there.. Making Person A in the same shoes as Persons B C D E F G etc. :)

      Delete
    4. Thanks guys, Now i feel more freely drawing my other two, without worrying about people say I'm copying other people stuff. I also have been drawing little gears and piston coming out of the other two gundam, and I see that Akongashi's already shows his gundam with those features --> Really impressive work by the way. as long as my gundam as a whole is different.

      Delete
    5. But if person B,C,D and so on did not see person A's entry, would they have still applied the same details on their own work or sought out similar inspirations?
And how about some aspects that aren't found in the kits or illustrations of this particular design? Are you just going to dismiss the fact that some of these contestants applied these extra tidbits based on their own ideas?
At that point, person B,C,D and so on would more than likely take those ideas and apply it on their own, thus stealing others creativity.

All that would have been avoided and answered if GG kept the entries private till the deadline.

      Delete
    6. YEah I agree with you about keeping entries private, that's why I'm gonna turn the other two in on the last day, then again it is no surprise if someone else has the same idea features as mine. so I think there will always be some similarity ideas even when people don't see other people's work. For example, there are millions people who loves Gundam, super hero, race cars, therefore it is no surprise if two people decided to paint their gundam with Iron Man War Machine colors, or paint their kits with race car stripes in the same colors.

      Delete
    7. Well, we can't please everybody.. if team GG didn't post the entries for everyone to see.. it wouldn't be as exciting as it is now and only a few people would enter. Of course team GG would post it for the Fans to see as well (that's why there's the FAN FAVOURITE category.. how can the fans choose their personal fave if they won't be able to see the entries. the contest was meant to Inspire people... so it is really unavoidable if people/other contestants were to copy or get inspiraion from early bird entries. It's all part of the game. Heck if you go to many Deviantart Competitions.. almost everyone posts their work for everyone to see weeks and even months before the deadline.

At least that's how I see it. So if some people would see it as "stealing" and others would see it as "inspiration" or even mere "coincidence". It's all permitted in the end. It's up to their hands whether to revolutionize it, improve it or degrade it. And in the end it's still all up to the Judges whether it's qualified as an entry.

      -Kyou

      Delete
    8. You are right, I also see this as an inspiration. Sure there are some entries that has some similar details from one another, but they all look different as a whole, in my opinion.

    9. "Of course team GG would post it for the Fans to see as well (that's why there's the FAN FAVOURITE category.. how can the fans choose their personal fave if they won't be able to see the entries."

That's why the entries should've remained private until the submission deadline. Then shortly after that(during the judging process), they could've made the entries public for the fans to see and judge as well.

  16. Jesta Chief... Great. Just wish it was done a little cleaner. As it is now though, it isn't bad. It looks just like an older style of lineart that used to be done for Gundam mechs.

Theodore Cruz.. I really want to give my vote to you, the Ez8 homage works pretty well for the Jesta here, but the red visor seems a little off. I'm aware that the Ez8 did have those color eyes, and in the Unicorn animation mook suits did have such saturated red visors, but it seems off here. Maybe a little suggestion of translucency and pushing the red into the pink hues?

I can see why people like the Mudrock style one. A similar theme but more successful one in my opinion is Juno~Uno's Duel inspired piece (nice work again).

Kyousakee, you did pretty well here.. I liked your AGE piece better though. Points here though for more originality. The Gransa was pretty clearly AGE-FX colors.. as far as I know I can't say your Jesta's colors come from anywhere. If they do, it's good they're not obvious in origin as the Gransa's colors.

  22. Mr. K Flores.. a little more effort please in making your own design. it seems you directly grabbed Kyousakee's entry and did some color adjustments here and there... the camo patterns, the color placements and even the small adjustment he did to the right hand is ripped off of it.

    1. At first I thought he was using Juno-Uno's lineart since the details are kinda similar(or at least in the same spots from what it seems), but I guess it is just a retouched version of Kyousakee's entry. Shame on Mr. Kesler Flores. -_-;

      Delete
    2. I dont know, Juno-Uno and Kyousakee also have similar lineart too. For all we know this could be the same person with 3 different names and 3 similar entries?? Wasn't there somebody here with an entry looking similar to another entry and claimed it as his " girlfriends" entry? Eitherway, this isn't a linart contest. It's a color scheme contest............placement of color contest.

      Delete
    3. No sir Anon 6:31, we are definitely 3 different people. Juno-Uno's and Mine were pretty much coincidentally similar since I believe we both added some details basing from the HGUC boxart illustration thus the similarities. Still there are pretty much strong diffences between our linearts I added some revisions to the hands and chest I can assure you, I did mine from scratch and did not directly rip off from any of the published entries before mine.. Still, I have to admit, that I took some inspiration from his lighting effects specifically on the legs because they were perfectly good around that region. the rest was personal retouching, flatting coloring and getting inspiration from what I've mentioned earlier, A Nike Kobe 8 Python Colorway. I can even provide the PSD (layerded) file which shows the bits and pieces and the process of my work. anndddd here's how I was able to detect K. Flores' forgery..

    4. Hmmm I don't know........I'm comparing both your lineart and Juno-Uno's one right now and there seems to be a lot of similar added panel lining. Like on the forearms, crotch and skirt armor, the head visor thing, and the thighs. And looking at the HGUC, those details doesn't seem to be on the illustration. Are you sure it's just the lighting that you "took some inspiration from"??

      Delete
    5. I'm seeing the similar lineart too. Funny how Kyousakee, answers for both Juno-Uno and himself in defense??? Kyousakee where's the image comparison that shows how yours is "different" from Juno-Uno?

    8. @Anons below my post

God I hope people are more open minded.. This is a COLORING CONTEST. COLOR.. C O L O R. KULAY

Well I sincerely don't want to compare with juno- uno's. I wish he could show his process then I can show mine. I am also getting tired. A lot of Anons coming up bashing left and right as to who's legit and who's fake. why don't you all introduce yourselves and communicate like real men. you can go ahead and save the line arts yourselves.. stack 'em up compare and whatever. you can ask sir Juno uno for his psd or whatever. I'm posting here like an idiot crazy enough not to hide my own Identity and here all 5 6 or how many other Anons out there nothing good to do but keep on bashing me saying I ripped of Juno. I respect the guy. I did my own line art and probably subconscoiusly got ideas from his BUT I NEVER EVER DID GET HIS WORK and merely REVISED IT. NEVER.. and like most other entries did what they all do and took inspiration from a lot of earlier entries.

All I care about is a certain person directly copying 80% of my work as in using the same image then using layer adjustments. If you guys consider me as a rip off of mr. Juno Uno. then fine let it be that way. I'm here open Identity not hiding who I am all for you anons to troll, bash burn whatever. COME AT ME!

Jeez this is why sometimes I dislike interacting with gunpla community with all this never ending process of hate and envy.

At Ikaw ANON MARCH 30 3:34 konting respeto naman. saklap kawpa pinoy ka pa naman sobra kang mapanghusga.

      Delete
    9. At this point competition has become sour for me.... I can't pull back what I've said but merely Goodluck to whoever wins. :)whatever the guys on top think that chose whoever will win. he/she deserves it.

      Delete
    10. Whether they're anons or not, the guys above did point out some interesting similarities that I would've otherwise missed. I don't think they're saying that you took Juno-Uno's lineart and modified it, but more like you blatantly took a lot of his(her?) ideas and applied it to your entry. :/
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the order of the entries submitted is oldest from the bottom and the most recent at the top. So I don't see what would be the point of Juno-Uno showing his/her photoshop process if that entry came way before yours.
But this is just another prime example why the entries should've remained private until the submission deadline. Then shortly after that(during the judging process), they could've made the entries public for the fans to see and judge.

      Delete
    11. Well ok if that is what of you think. I respect that. It's just hurtful that the same thing was done to me in the Age-1 Gransa category where I added some details, decals and stuff originally not present in the lineart, posted early then someone posted an entry 2 days later with the same decal placements and and small lighting things on the shoulder and stuff then added some detail, but I just decided to shut up and let it be since it was after all a coloring competition.

Anyways. if an Apology and a disqualification is in order. I'd be glad to say sorry and accept being ousted. Seeing as I've become a villain here.

      Delete
    12. @Kyousakee, relate din ako sayo kasi my isang contestant ang nagpoproclaim na lineart daw nya yung ginamit ko, hindi porket pareho o may pagkahawig yung gawa sasabihin kanya yun, hindi tama yun kasi hindi natin alam kung paano nila nagawa un and besides my ginagamit tayong mga reference, kapwa pinoy na nga lang eh nanglalaglag pa, dapat suportahan...
      Nakiki-isa ako syo bro....

Joan Anderman in the Boston Globe summed up Gelb as "the mythical diablo 3 gold American cowboy spray-painted in strange, muted shades. Think art-school Neil Young, or Lou Reed wandering the buy diablo 3 gold Mojave Desert."Gelb's verve for doing what comes naturally does not always translate into commercial success: All of Giant Sand's releases until diablo gold the mid-1990s were put out on independent labels and many were marketed to fans directly through mail-order.

    3. @Arman Geddon, I don't think that RT get your lineart, can you proof it??? then post it in here... if RT pick your lineart, it is hard to remove all of your color schemes and takes many days to clean it... check twice dude before you complain...

@roninmastermix, don't tell a person a "shame" because of telling someone that he reclaim that it is his lineart.... it arman geddon is the one who "shame" because someone nailed him

      Delete
    4. @Anon. I don't think you fully grasp what i said. I'm not saying it's a shame because of the mere fact that someone complained. The shame in my comment came from the fact that he could afford not to "swipe" someone elses competition entry to make his own. Art-swiping or tracing/copying is prohibited in this competition for a reason. If i can find the time today i'll try and provide some proof.

      Delete
    5. @roninsmastermix, I don't think that this person "RT" is Art-swiping or tracing/copying, I saw the difference of their work... There is a big difference on their lineart... you check twice, checked the post above this, arman geddon claims that his lineart is get by MT... and how come he reclaims it, no one knows that it have the same lineart but in case on armangeddon there is a huge difference.......

      Delete
    6. It's not much the lineart that i "suspect" but more on the shading and shadow work. I'll see what i can do today if i have the time to make a visual autopsy of the 2 entries. Of course im not tasked nor obligated to do so. I must admit that i did jump into a conclusion prematurely so i for now i will give RT the benefit of the doubt. I apologize for that.

      Delete
    7. It's ok, you jump to the conclusion because of it. It's better not to judge a person for their work if their are some difference or same... GG is the one to judge...

      Delete
    8. I finished my mini-cross examination. See a couple of posts below. I would again like to apologize for jumping to conclusions and now truly believe that RT did not use AG's art for his entry. I do think that he used AG's lineart as a reference and drew over it and to me that is still doing the work. As was mentioned before, its up to GG to decide if its qualified or not but as for my own opinion and digression, Ryan Torda is fine and did the work for the entry appropriately.

  29. http://i.imgur.com/gYBtOS0.jpg

The link above shows the quick cross examination i made between the original art, RT's and AG's work. I can safely say that RT DID NOT take AG's lineart and used it directly on his entry. He MAY have used AG's lineart as a reference and drew the lines over it. There is considerable manual drawing work that was done on RT's work that cannot be replicated by merely adjusting Photoshop layers and properties.
