DeleteIf anything, I'd much rather have more MG TV Version Gundam Wing suits (Would rather enjoy a tallgeese or a Wing Zero tv ver.) or a MG Justice Gundam than the Exia R2 or the ELS Qan[T]. On the other hand, this MG Aegis looks really fantastic. Can't wait for it to get released.

DeleteThough the current MG is a pretty good kit, it just doesn't fit in standing next to these new Seed kits.. not everyone can or have the time to mod like Keita too. It was released almost 9 years ago too, nothing wrong with asking for a version 2.0 now.

DeleteI can't believe people are even TALKING about a Strike 2.0. The current Strike MG is fine, they even designed the new SEED MGs to fit in with it. Not every MG made before 2005 needs a 2.0

Throwing philosophy around doesn't explain what about the MG Strike is so problematic that we need a 2.0. When Bandai did updates of kits they usually REALLY outdated(compare any MG 1.0 to it's 2.0 counterpart.) The MG Strike is great even by today's standards. Arbitrarily doing an update kit is just silly.

DeleteIt's not because original Strike has flaws or has some problems, although if put right near Duel or Blitz, it's as if from a different league. But it's not as silly or arbitrarily as it may seem. Considering these kits share about 40-50% parts (except Aegis, and I'd say it's above 60% for Duel), new frame included, I think there's high probability we may see a new Strike sometime next year.

ReplyDeleteWow, quite a bit of an argument here. I'm a little late for the party but I still wanted to put in my two cents. First off, an MG 2.0 of the Strike isn't needed at this point. Why? On a modeller's point of view, the improvements that the current kit needs is minimal at best and negligible at worst. It is as basic as basic kits go and while the Real Grade is aesthetically better, it still does not warrant an improved version of the current mold on the Master Grade. Second versions of kits are usually made to address structural or practical flaws on the original release and not because a grade made breakthroughs in aesthetic or gimmickery. Take for example the different Zeta Gundam releases. With each subsequent release, a problem gets resolved. They don't update kits for the sake of updating; rather, they update a kit once the necessary technology for a specific gimmick or specification unique to that line has become available. So in that sense, the MG Strike does not need an update. It is perfectly fine as it is with minimal (mostly aesthetic) defects.

Are there any kits that need a priority 2.0 treatment compared to Strike? For sure! Hyaku Shiki in my humble opinion, and others for some other people I'm sure.
In the end, they'll do what they see best. Just be happy, relax and enjoy~
:o those blades are huge. Actually I think they're too big from what I recall from the show. The original Seed MGs are good by today's standards, just not "ZOMG that is soo awesome :)" So they can still hold a lighter to the newer SEED MG's, at least I think so. But the thing with 2.0's are that they'll only be released for special occasions, such as a series anniversary. So maybe by early next year theyll have a RG GP01 for Stardust Memory's 20th anniversary, or a 2.0 GP01/GP01Fb. But that's just my dream :p

What if instead of a strike 2.0 Bandai does a new MG strike but with a modified aile backpack to hold the sword and launcher + extra batteries like a “full-armor strike” that has the entire weapon packs on. That way they could also change it a little to look good next to the aegis. So all this “NEEDS 2.0” could be settled. This is just a thought…but I know I’ll buy it.

ReplyDeletegood old UC doesn´t sell like it used to old timer, people want to buy new stuff not things from the last century, in fact if there's something that should just slow down is UC gunpla to make room for other AU series like Gundam X,Turn A, G Gundam and off course more Seed and 00 that everyone seems to hate but its in fact the gunpla series that sells more kits, how about that... not a uc hater, in fact i love UC but its time to move foward, and since seed is still very popular and loved in Japan there will be more seed kits, Bandai is not dumb, they know pretty well people are crazy about things like Providence, Legend, Saviour, Blast Impulse and Akatsuki altough this one is out if the question imo if you consider the NG already costs 7000 yens, and who know some day we will see the main gundams form 00 season 1, 2 and movie? i myself would be very happy.
