  3. xD So there's clear white plastic under the gold plating? Dafuq is this?

  4. Shiranui and Oowashi Akatsuki cost less than this thing at retail despite being more complex. To hell with this overpriced thing. The original HGUC Hyaku Shiki can be had for dollars to donuts these days and it's covered in electroplating.

    1. What does the Hyaku shiki's price have to do with this?!
This shares no parts with that kit, has different plating (far more vibrant than the cheaper plating on hyaku shiki) and is not a main character MS from a popular anime so Bandai are not so sure about how well it will sell.

How about you check the costs of a HG unicorn, nu or Sinanju with plating? Because Bandai are treating this kit the exact same way.

    2. Actually, none of the three other HGUC kits are plated. They're just machine-painted with silver and metallic red spray paint. In the case of those "special versions", all you're paying for is not having to spray paint the model yourself. Trust me, plating doesn't wear off like the paint on those models does. Not only that, even if the Hyaku Shiki isn't plated in as high quality as the HGUC Delta Plus (which, by the way, there is no evidence of), the fact of the matter is that it is plated (both the MG and the HGUC are) and it still doesn't push the price up past normal MGs (in the case of the MG anyway; the HGUC kit is actually still cheaper than most HGUC kits including the ones that came before it so the argument of increasing model prices over time is also invalid) whereas this Delta Gundam costs as much as a lower-mid range MG.

Sure it's not a main suit and sure it's not from some popular anime, but neither are a lot of the models they produce. Those models aren't pushed up in price because of that. That considered, the Delta Gundam was still popular enough to warrant release as a model kit. This is not the first time popularity has gotten an MS into model form, but in previous cases, their price was not driven up because of that.

I do agree that the Delta Gundam is overpriced (granted I think most model produced by Bandai cost too much, but this is particularly bad), but I'm not saying that it's unwarranted. Maybe Bandai does have a reason I don't know for the increased cost, but the reasons you stated are invalid.

  5. Does anyone else wish Bandai will release another HGUC Delta Gundam without the gold paint? I'd be quite happy paying the Delta Plus price for it. The transluscent white on black with red highlights color scheme works for me. And I think that people who don't like the shininess of the kit would like to spray paint it if there were a cheaper version
