A 20 meters tall Gundam statue to stand at Haneda (Tokyo, Japan)

A 20 meters tall Gundam statue to stand at Haneda (Tokyo, Japan)
ANN News (Japan) reports that a 20 meters tall Gundam statue would be on display in a new attraction project "Cool J", using the vast vacant area adjacent to Haneda Airport (Tokyo, Japan).  This new location in not that far from where the 1:1 scale RX-78-2 Gundam statue is currently on display at Odaiba (about a 15 mins car drive). It is currently uncertain whether the Gundam statue from Odaiba would be move to this new location or a totally brand new Gundam statue would be on display.

Will provide more details as more info becomes available.

If a new Gundam statue is going to be another mobile suit.  Which mobile suit would you like to see?

    2. Strike Freedom has the greatest of chances among CE mechs, but it's a meter short of 20.I'm hoping for a Zeta and at the very least, a MK II, and maybe even a Unicorn in basic form.

    3. SEED model ? YESS please!
      but not SF nor Freedom.

      I prefer:
      - 20m Jesus Yamato statue, or
      - 20m Lunamaria model with pantsu-less skirts, or
      - 20m Meer boobs side-by-side with Lacus boobs (I'd like to know which one is smaller..)

      ..there

    4. For some reason...

this guy makes a lot of sense... :3

20m Kira, Lunamaria or Meer+Lacus boobs side to side all makes a lot of fucking sense... :3

I wouldn't be really surprised if it would happen... knowing Japan's all weird an all with those something meter dicks and the festival going on too...

  3. If I were to make a wild guess, I'd guess that they'd make a Char's Zaku statue since its the most common companion piece to the Gundam.

I would liked to see a GM... or even better my favorite MS the GM Sniper II. ^^

Ah.. we can dream. Wonder what its gonna be?

    1. But that ain't 20m unless the 20m thing is just a very rough guess to the size...

  4. Considering that it's near an air port, I'm thinking that it would be a transformable mobile suit. My vote would go to the Zeta.

  5. If a new statue is going to be another mobile suit, I would like to see the Nu Gundam, because it is the true successor and upgrade to Amuro Ray's RX-78-2.

  6. The only 2 that would make sense as companions to RX78 would be Char's Zaku or Nu.

  7. My vote goes to Zeta. The show that REALLY got people into Gundam after Gundam 0079.

  8. I vote Gundam Mk II Titans It's 19.6m

  9. It would be something without huge backpack. unfortunately Zaku is around 17m tall.

yet if the news actually 20m-ish, then anything can go into the criteria.

Gundam mark 2 is a possible option, as it is simple enough and quite tall, yet it isn't popular enough.

Zeta Gundam is a more impossible due to it's more complex weight balance-stature relationship.

Unicorn Gundam(unicorn mode) is also possible, due to it being quite tall, and is currently popular, yet it is just recently popular, not enough.

    I'll still go for Zaku 2 :D

  12. Why should Bandai throw away so much money on some useless Gundam Statue when they should use it for other future developments like a better Gundam anime, a new plamo line based on VER 3.0 or a 1/72 YF-19 & 21?

    1. Why not? Another venue = new tourist trap = entrance fees + more overpriced Limited edition crap.

    2. You really don't understand how popular Gundam is over there do you? If the previous one was a success in terms of popularity, why not make another?

  13. FAKE NEWS!

ANN News' report only alks about building a 20m statue, from anime and representing Japan's modern culture, near Narita airport in order to welcome visitors.
The Gundam statue is shown as an example, but the journalists never even pronounce the name "Gundam".

Please just submit your news to someone who speaks Japanese before posting them. Thanks.
