Namco Bandai Games announced Gundam Breaker, a new game for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems, at Sony's pre-Tokyo-Game Show press conference on Wednesday. Unlike most previous Gundam games that try to recreate the robot anime itself, this new game will pit plastic models against other plastic models in stages inspired by dioramas.
For example, Namco Bandai Games showed images of a 1/144-scale Gundam RX-78-2 taking on a much larger 1/60 scale Gundam RX-78-2. (The backdrop in this scenario is a diorama of Diver City Tokyo — the real-life home of the life-size Gundam statue.)

  3. That´s it! I waited for this since Gunpla Builder OVA came out.
Now all that´s left is a complete series of it and not only three OVA´s.

  4. I'd prefer Bandai Namco (and anyone else for that matter) just made 1 good Gundam game instead of the never-ending torrent of crap disguised as games that continually sprays from their collective asses. Probably wont even get an international release. Still going to buy it though......

    1. > Implying 0081, Extreme Vs, Seed on Vita, SD Gundam G Generation, and Gundam Unicorn for PS3 were crap.

    2. Sorry if I seemed a bit smartass but honestly I do feel that the more recent Gundam games haven't been too bad. ANd if there wasn't that stupid energy system in Gundam Battle Operation I'd think it was pretty good too honestly. The only crap Gundam games I can think of are Gundam Crossfire/Target in Sight, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, and Gundam 00 on the DS, and that's about it.

We Got Blue Destiny, 0079 on the Wii, SD Gundam Capsule Fighters for the Gamecube, Zeonic Front, Encounters in Space, Climax UC, Operation Pegasus, Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack PS1, Zeta GUndam PS1, Rise from the Ashes, and Gihren's Greed (though I will admit the latest PSP one wasn't very good.)

All in all I think that is a pretty good selection of good games. Maybe not GOTY good but they desinitely aren't 'crap disguised as games'.

  5. This begs the question of whether we can incorporate our own Gunpla into the game and if so, how.

  9. Would the G, W and X era 1/100 HG be playable I wonder, and whether they will move very poorly because of their limited knee joint movement?

It would be funny if you can play as those Cup Noodle special edition mini gunpla.

  10. Does this mean the MG EX-S Gundam will finally have some mobility?

  11. Anyone else notice the torso on Wing Zero Custom is 00 Gundam? and RX-78-2 uses Deathscythe's Scythe?

    1. more accurately it's like entire 00 gundam's body with zero (ew) wings. it also show a sazabi+sinanju hybrid or something like that. It seem like they carry the idea from age UA/CD to create custom ms from various parts.
