Mobile Suit Gundam AGE - To End On The 49th Episode

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE
Based on the recent Gundam ACE magazine publication (October Issue), the Gundam AGE series is scheduled to end at episode 49.  Most Gundam TV series usually ends on the 50th episode... this begs the question would there be an extra 50th episode to air as an special / TV movie?  Would you want one?

  1. That´s sad. I like AGE and want more.
Especially I want to know how they want to end it with only 4 Episodes.

I would like to see a second season of AGE.

(Now you can bitch around you AGE-haters.)

  5. AGE has been an enjoyable ride but the show as a whole has some serious narrative problems trying to cram too much story into too little time and cutting down to 49 episodes DOES NOT help.

I'm wondering how they plan to wrap up all those loose plot threads with only 4 episodes left... If nothing else, they should at least make the home stretch action-packed and spectacular.

    1. There is no other way than a second season to explain all the loose ends in AGE. And Iám really looking forward to it.

I wanted to see the first encounter between EFF and Marsians all the time. The first encounter between the travelers and the disease and how the EFF covered all about it. Not only with short animation but with a real episode.

How did Eselcant got his power.
How he got the partial dates of EXA-DB.
The time of Flit being in his twenties wit AGE1-Razor.
      ...

  6. If they want to expand AGE, please make a story about one hundred year wars and about EXA-DB itself

  9. Honestly, I just started AGE and it isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Give it a try before labeling it as childlike bullshit. (That's what I thought it was before trying it out; nowhere near as good as UC Unicorn, but hey, it's something to watch while we wait for ep. 6 to be released.)

I'm not particularly fond of the mecha designs but it has a pretty good story. Don't think I'll be touching any of the Gunpla (barring a really big MAYBE for the MG AGE-1 Normal) but the show in and of itself is tolerable. Glad to see it's a fairly long ~50 episode series. I honestly doubt there will be a S2, since most Gundam animes run either a full 50~ episode series or divide between two seasons of ~25 episodes each. Maybe we'll get something like a Seed Destiny sequel that Seed had though? Just not as bad as Destiny was... >.>

  10. Out of 11 TV series, only 5 have had fifty episodes, less than half... isn't it a little much to say "most usually end on 50" and to speculate based on that?

    MSG 43*, Z 50, ZZ 47, V 51, G 49, W 49, X 39*, A 50, SEED 50, SEED-D 50, 00 50

(*: cancelled, but still a final episode count, plus, in the case of the original series, it was planned for 52 episodes anyway.)

  11. I really hate AGE vs Unicorn comparisons. We're talking about TV series versus an OVA with an enormous budget, ridiculous production time, almost no restrictions on content and rides on over 30 years of nostalgia. Yeah, AGE never stood a chance.

As for a second season, I highly doubt it since SEED only got it because it had the highest ratings ever since Zeta. Whatever fans expect of the next Gundam series, they should be more reasonable.

  12. the plot is too fast i think, they should split it into "real" season instead of packing all of three generation in one season...
plus, i want to see more badass grunt! Seric is not like wolf,

  13. Agreed, I think they could have spread out the series more efectively as a 3 x 26 episode blocks, giving us more time to develop a story before letting 20+ year gaps get in the way. OTOH, I can see Bandai not wanting to gamble on a three-year investment in case it wasn't popular. Gundam makes big money, but also requires big money to make; if one "season" sucked, it may have been stuck with that investment and trying to recoup losses at the Plamo counter.

I find plenty to like with Gundam AGE and will gladly finish the series. One of the best things about this franchise is that it constantly renwews itself and the fandom knows and accepts that if one series doesn't work out, there will always be another one.

  14. Seeing how AGE did not do well ratings wise I don't see Bandai pushing more for more AGE any time soon, in fact Im sure they are really upset AGE was not the huge hit they were hopping for, makes me wonder how much will Bandai risk next time? Will they try something new or finally is time for another novel/manga to be adapted like Crossbone or Frozen Teardrop.
