  2. I figured something along the lines of a Zaku would be more realistic an MS that can possibly be created in real life. Super robot-esque MSs like Wing, Freedom, and Turn A might overpower tanks that can shoot from miles away, but it would be too costly, and if grunt MSs are impractical against a tank, why go further into unnecessary expense?

The closest thing that could actually be put into use would be worker/construction variants of grunts, and even then would I be uncertain of it, due to the fact taht already-existing, cheaper machinery already exists.

  3. @Siroh32 Actually, grunt MSs, even Zakus, are far more powerful than tanks. The reason being is that tanks can only fire 120 mm shells one at a time due to their size limitations, while a Zaku is not only more maneuverable but can fire 120 mm shells in full auto, not to mention the fact that Minovsky particles would eliminate radar making them practical in space. Something like the Freedom is probably one of the least likely to get designed, since it's wings serve no function.

  4. @Richard: My explanation was bringing the concept of mobile suits in general into the real world; a world without Minovsky particles, a world where military weaponry isn't sixty feet tall and can fire from afar... A universe where military combat in space would be engaged in ranges unthinkable in the universe of Mobile Suit Gundam.

As neat as it would be to see giant, humanoid-shaped military weaponry controlled by a couple of levers and foot pedals and is powerful in spite of it's size and need for close range combat, that is a concept too costly and impractical in the world of today.
