ReplyDeleteKind of reminds me of Break Blade. Hopefully more suit designs. While novel and exciting I don't what I've seen so far is getting me hyped. Taking a wait and see approach. Anime needs to start NOW though.

ReplyDeleteSee it's funny, I hate 90% of the designs from 00 but I've loved every single one I've seen out of this show, I guess this series has 5 mech designers though so maybe it's just more variety and discussion among them that's bringing out the crazier designs.

ugh bad bad bad. The G-self is a masterpiece compared to this thing. I mean the head is kinda cool, the rest...not so much. The graze thing looks terrible, it just screams "I am cannon fodder blow me up by the hundreds". Almost as bad as the Leo's in wing gundam.

That Gusion looks like it came from G-Reco and the Kimaris is from AGE. That Kimaris though doesn't even have any slight resemblance to a gundam. Not. One. Bit!

I think in this world the out ward appearance doesn't matter. I think what matters is that the MS is using the Gundam Frame. I'm surprise the Gundam Frame is able to handle that bulky Kimaris armor
DeleteIn this series any mobile suit that has the "Gundam Frame" is considered fair game. Honestly I like the design of the kimaris because it has that knight theme going on with the lance and everything and to me the gusion looks like what a gundam look like if they were turtles. You're still entitled to your opinion but I like the direction they're going with these. These like look they're made to fight first and not just look cool.

What the heck is with these people and saying something doesn't "Look like a Gundam?" I mean come on, there were plenty of Gundams that broke the mold, like Exia, or the GP02, or the Turn A for crying out loud. And don't even get me started on the Tallgeese, b/c that's a Leo. Come on people, let the designers get creative.

Also, anyone else see a merging of Mech designs? The Gusion (The bulky green one) screams g-reco, but this time with a more down-to earth feel. The Barbados itself seems to be 00, along with the Hyukaren. And the Kimaris(The obviously gundam one with the white tower on it's head and a V-fin) looks like G-reco again, but also like an upgrade to the Barbatos. Not that I want that one. I'mma call it mushroom-head.

DeleteBarbatos has an awkward lineart in its design. i think if you wanna compare the alternative gundam design. try Gaia-Gear Alpha. i know i know its not a "Gundam" but after all its timeline is set around UC.
Deletein my opinion, even for a non-gundam mecha, barbatos design is not that appealing. in terms of linearts design. tengen toppa gurren lagann (the last form) i think still has better design. Barbatos is.. i dunno, its a bit try so hard to be "awesome" looking, as a gundam in my opinion, Graze and Gusion has more natural when it comes to term "appealing design"

ReplyDeleteI really want to like the ms designs, I really do, it looks cool and it is new, but at the same time, there are something about all of the design that just turns me away.
ReplyDeleteIf you compare the "claws" on the feet of Barbatos type 6 to the previous artworks you'll notice that they're the same size and wide. It only means that the Gundam frame's feet are not squeezed unlike in the HG version.
