It's not recasted as brass. It's the actual plastic kit, then powder blasted with brass/metal powders, "baked" and polished.
Anyways, it's not the material that's deemed expensive, but the process of how the brass/metal finish was accomplished. No one's forcing you to buy it if you don't have the money for it, right?
No it won't, there is a process for plating plastics in metals. Most of the time it's done in chrome but brass shouldn't be any more difficult. A special paint that contains high levels of metals is used that is then cured and then goes through a fairly typical plating process after. So take some time, learn something, and quit being a jackass.
