- Virtual Entertainment Division:
Design plans and ideas to virtually move the 18 meters tall Gundam statue. Seeking proposals for visual effect & special effect technologies.
- Qulifications:
The application is intended for the whole world, it does not matter if is an individual or a group.
If applicant is a minor, a consent form with legal representation / parental authorization must be
submitted.
- Safety Requirements
Safety of the project must not affect the surrounding environment, and assuring the safety of visitors.

The GUNDAM Global Challenge initiative is to collect knowledge and skills/research from around the world and make the 18m Gundam to truly become mobile with mechanical articulations (To be able to move).
Tomoni Yoshiyuki (Creator of the Mobile Suit Gundam Series) & Yushiki Sugizo (Japan rock band X-Japan - guitarist) are involved in the promotion of this exciting project.

ReplyDeleteThey are already doing Char's Zaku, but i think Unicorn or Exia would be a great choice. Anything with wings would be to much in regards to wind.
ReplyDeleteYeah I hadn't really considered the wing part. Having giant frail wings spread 60 feet in the air is just a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe if they were folded up, but then what's the point.

I wonder if they'll use a material with equal strength to the luna-titanium alloy (that can withstand guns / bazookas etc of course)
Remember the movie "Jingle all the way" where the Turbo man suit acts like the real thing? hopefully we'll get the same experience
I hope they'll apply magnetic coating for this unit so it can move freely hehehe.....
Gundam has issues that I can not overcome.
ReplyDeleteFor example, the machines being never locked up and always get stolen by any random boy without authorization ID/keys or whatever, which is impossible for an advanced equipment. Let alone the fact that in that advanced stage of technology there will be no need for human pilots, and that humanoid form for a robot is ridiculously nonsensical in its impracticality.
I could understand many people from 1960s being absolutely clueless about technology and the routes it will take in the future, but now, in 2010s, every sane person knows that there is nothing scientific (remember the genre is “sci-fi”? Strike the “sci” part) about those giant robots concept. Those machines will be never built in any other form than for amusement parks, so viewers have a harder time buying the whole thing as even remotely believable.
how about the unexpected the mobile zudah the "competitor" against the Zaku it would be incredible and unexpected to see it unveiled beside the original RX-78-2 as a surprise "encounter"

ReplyDeleteI suggest a Gundam Mk II that can walk, turn, and pretty much anything a mobile suit can do. Except for all the jumping and flying and blowing stuff up, because this project is clearly just to prove that it can be done, not for warfare. Oh! It should also feature the movable frame system, like the real Mk II so that it uses less materials and is lighter. Basically build a skeleton with all the equipment, fuel, thrusters, etc. and add the armor where it's needed.
