well I'd say... that's a LOT of freakin decals... a crapload of 'em... decal junkies will looove this :D but for me.. that price tag is not for me.. otherwise awesome kit..
@3:20 First step is for hide the nubmark. First apply gold color paint (100%, not mixed with other color) on mark's surface, then overcoat it with clear yellow (100%, mixed with a very little amount of clear orange). Second step is just applying panel line with lining marker.
Pardon me for asking because I'm new to gunpla but I was wondering what would happen If I were to use top coat on gold plated plastic? Will Top Coating have positive or negative results for a gold plated model kit such as the Phenex?
Only topcoat gloss, the rest will make it bad. Unless you are decided make battle damage, semi gloss will work. But if you want keep its glossiness, just use gloss topcoat
A good gloss coat will keep it having the nice metallic shine that it has right now. It may change it somewhat but you can always test out what it will look like on a runner first before you do the whole kit.
For these plated kits, you always want to go with a gloss coat to maintain that metallic shine look. The only exception is a kit like the Hyakku Shiki HD Color Ver where it's a more muted metallic shine and you may wish to use only a semi-gloss coat.
Did you know the Armed Armor DEs act as beam machineguns? Also, the Phenex loses its arm while fighting the Banshee. Lastly, I'm kinda disappointed about the eye stickers being yellow; when the Phenex experiences the runaway psycommu, the eyes turn red. Just some info for the people picking this up :D

Or on any alternate ways to protect the finish like waxes, oils or anything. Does anyone know what the composition of the plating is?

ReplyDeleteOh crap... those decals. Can't tell if they're waterslides. If they are, then I am at a complete loss whether to gloss or flat or semi-gloss coat it.

I think that is waterdecal, you should top coat gloss. The rest will kill it
