Gundam 00 Assistant Director Masaki Kitamura Charged for Massacre Threat [News via AnimeNewsNetwork]

42-year-old anime technical director Masaki Kitamura was charged on Friday with interfering with a public official's duties after being arrested in August for allegedly writing "I will commit a massacre" on the city's website. According to the police, the suspect denied the charges, saying, "I'm completely innocent."
The suspect is accused of going to Osaka's inquiry page on the Internet and writing, "I will commit a massacre in Otaroad [in Osaka's Nipponbashi area] next Sunday. I will ram into pedestrian paradise, and after stabbing indiscriminately with a knife, I will commit suicide" on July 29 at about 9:45 p.m. "Pedestrian paradise" is the traditional practice of cordoning vehicles off a particular street or streets and limiting the area to foot traffic. Nipponbashi's Otaroad is essentially Osaka's otaku shopping counterpart to Tokyo's Akihabara.
Kitamura was an assistant director on both seasons of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He was also a director of the 10th installment of Gundam Evolve and an episode director on Ergo Proxy, GUNxSWORD, Intrigue in the Bakumatsu - Irohanihoheto, Planetes, Wolf's Rain, and other series.

  2. 00 hater much GG?. You already posted this, the guy also worked on various anime, but you emphasize on 00 so much as if it's the one that caused this.

    1. You're quite delusional if you see anything related to 00 "causing" this. The sotry posted before was about his arrest, this story is about him getting charged. I applaud your reading skills, but nice try.

    2. See the third comment? GG's the one that caused that.

    3. No, he does NOT emphasize his work on Gundam 00. It is simply mentioned in the last paragraph with all the other anime he worked on. You must think its a slight against Gundam 00 because of the headline/picture. Did it occur to you that this was a Gundam blog? Y'know, maybe it's the blogger's intent to show us that this is Gundam RELATED.

It's GUNDAMguy. He's suppose to talk about Gundam.

    1. He's supposed to remain natural, not leading hate to a specific series like what he did to AGE and 00. But can't help it since not everyone is NgeeKhiong.

Um... Where does it say that Gundam Guy has to remain neutral? Where does it say that he's a news reporter or journalist? I don't get where you find he has to be unbiased at his own blog (where he can do whatever he wants).

Nevermind that he highlighted Masaki Kitamura's involvement in Gundam 00 when posting ANN's news report on his Gundam-related blog because it's Gundam-related (regardless of whether GG likes 00 or not). But the Anon from 12:04 PM on Sept. 16th already mentioned this point after you posted your comment, so it's a bit redundant of me to repeat it.

But I'm still fascinated on where you get the notion that GG's supposed to be "down the middle" on the views he posts about Gundam on his own blog. If it was actually your blog and he was posting on it under your supervision and you had that as a mandated rule, then you'd have a point. But you don't, since it is his blog.

And why did you bring up that "not everyone is Ngee Khiong"? Of course GG and everyone else isn't him; NK is a different person. Did you mean that you believe NK was better in posting Gundam news (before he had quit in doing so) than GG and others?

Maybe NK was better when it came to preventing flaming/flame wars, even if it was done by preventing all reaction to news posted on his Gunpla news blog. But beyond that, what's the big difference between what NK did and what GG is doing here?

  4. "Nipponbashi's Otaroad is essentially Osaka's OTAKU shopping counterpart to Tokyo's Akihabara".

the dude got really tired of anime, manga and it's fans, so he tried his best to eliminate the problem.
but he failed on one thing: to stay silent.
if that happened, the results would be tottaly hilarious.
all the wapanese americunts would be crying faggy tears rigth now.

So, you decided to reveal not only your bigotry of those (from a specific country) who like anime/manga, but also bigotry of some people's gender preferences... Worse yet, you place higher value in being entertained by their reactions (if the massacre was carried out) than in the lives of the innocent people that could've been victimized... Really?

...Gee, how uplifting for the rest of humanity. How intelligent. (Not.) I just marvel at such (lack of) originality in baiting for attention. *sigh*

How about ignoring the comments that complain of alleged 00 hatred (and the other comments) and just commenting what a relief it is that a potential murderer (if he's guilty as charged) was caught before go out to terrorize and murder innocent people? How about something like that?

I somehow left out "he could" between "before" and "go", but I trust my point is made. *shrug*
