The Asahi Shimbun newspaper has posted a 53-second video on its YouTube channel of the disassembled version of the life-size Gundam statue, which has returned to Tokyo after two years as the "Odaiba Gundam Project 2011." The statue is being displayed at Symbol Promenade Park on Tokyo's artificial island of Odaiba until August 21.
Admission is to the park 500 yen (US$6), although it is free for preschoolers. A portion of the proceeds will go to charities for victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.
The life-size statue first stood at Odaiba in July 2009 and attracted 4.15 million visitors before it closed the following month. (It stood 18 meters, or about 59 feet high.) The statue rose again in Shizuoka from July of last year to March of this year.
